What are some illusions in life that don't match all the hype?

That the digital/online age would make so many things simpler & easier for the average private citizen (...an illusion, in my opinion).

I freely concede digital/online makes some things easier & simpler, but it complicates & frustrates too... and seems to leave kids (at least many of them) socially distanced & inept, and often divorced from nature. And, too, on their website systems, too many businesses & services leave one "key-chatting" with some cloddish, unhelpful AI system! or waiting for an email response that never comes.
 
Well in my lifetime since the 1980s, the importance of electing a President of our USA nation, since our two parties have gone into putting up politicians that they think are on the surface clean with least skeletons in their closets along with only parts of platforms with popular agendas they want the public to see. After being elected, its much backdoor politics by powerful forces with $$$, power, and morality interests that understand if they were honest about all their goals, our public wouldn't buy what they're selling. In other words, at least at a national level, one is electing whatever party that often has a list of corked until elected foul odors.

(Note yes, this post has a political element of sorts, but generalizes without going into any controversial detail the kind of inputs meant to be banned.)

So, we're talking about the male enhancement effect of owning a fancy / go fast vehicle? I'm starting to catch on now. :D
I love my Toyota Tacoma, mainly because it still smells new after 4 years. I don't smoke, drink or spill coffee in it, or eat fast food in my "new" 2019 truck. ;)
If I were to have a "bucket list" vehicle, it would be a '63 Corvette Fastback, or a mid '60s TR3.

I've got a Tacoma, quite a bit older. Bought second-hand and it's a dependable, durable vehicle.😌 My wife's got a 2015 RAV-4, which is better for fuel economy.

An excellent way to be immediately excused from jury duty is to give this answer during the interview to any question it fits : "Only God can judge." That was my brother's advice.

That'll save you having to go get proof from your Dr.. Some courts in the US will take your word for it, though, and some just ask you to show your parking placard.

I've been asked to serve 4 times and only got as far as the interview once. I didn't take my bro's advice because wanted to serve, but I wasn't chosen. I don't know why. Maybe because I didn't seem like the defendant's peer. She was a wealthy businesswoman.

I hated being on jury duty. I was on a jury in 1966 and I remember every minute of it all these years since then. The man's name and address and every minute of the trial.I would never want to serve again.
