What are the odds of getting something right?

Jeesh. It is a well known fact that manufacturers always include a spare screw. Everything I have ever taken apart, and put back together has had at least one spare screw. I found out that car maufacturers always include up to seven or eight spare nuts.

All those extra screws you folks got must be the ones that came up short on any items I had that needed a certain number, like curtain rods, towel racks etc. So I have to go buy a thingie of screws or whatever to get one to finish the project, they never fit any other project ever again, & over time I accumulate a shoe box full of different fastener packages, each full but for one.

I spoke too soon. The shredder tipped over and stopped working in forward only reverse. Had to take it apart and had to remove wires and resolder them because they broke off, too brittle. About 12 hours labor. But it's fixed.

I agree, and I was just being funny with the title of the thread,
but I actually admire that you were able it get it working.

Manatee, taking pix worked well for me once. A few yrs ago when cable tv hookups had more wires than now, I was moving & took pix of the back of the tv & all the connections, & was able to get it back together again.

I take pics, number everything, put parts in little plastic compartments, in the order I remove them. My repairs go well, almost 100% of the time, unless an unknown component is blown and is too much of a pain to line trace. I did have a signal injection rig, and could locate where a bad component was, but on so many modern tech units it's not worth going on the hunt, and the disassembly called for is also too much of a pain. On larger pieces of equipment, with mechanical failure, no problem. Chainsaws are always fun to work on. Larger electrical pieces and appliances are also ok.
