I need to try that when it gets warmer. Do you partially cook your bacon before you wrap them?
With gratitude to a couple of dear SF friends:
@OneEyedDiva, what a GREAT recommendation about the Sweet Baby Ray's and navy bean soup. Like the old Brylcreem commercials, a little dab will do ya'. Just a small squirt into a bowl of the soup adds the perfect amount of smoky-sweet goodness!
@RadishRose, You've mentioned Italian Wedding Soup many times here, but I don't think I'd ever eaten it - my Sicilian GM didn't make it, nor did my mom. I looked for a highly rated recipe for the soup, subbing in my Beyond Meat Italian meatballs. OMG it's so, so, so delicious. DH tasted it and fell in love with me all over again. No wonder you make it so often!
Thank you both!!!
Escarole is a rarity in these parts. I subbed a handful of Costco's Organic Power Greens (baby chard, baby spinach & baby kale) and (hot) tiny alphabet pasta (the only small pasta I had on hand). Put them in the serving bowls and poured hot soup over top. The soup immediately wilted the greens.I've never tried it, but I noticed that Walmart carries this soup. It substitutes spinach for escarole.

What is a ham loaf?Using my ham loaf recipe & turning half of it into patties to fry up. Will do some onion rings in the oven to go with it.
Ham loaf is a meatloaf that's made out of half ground pork & half ground ham. You add bread crumbs, eggs & milk to the meat & make into a loaf or small individuals loaves. Top with a sauce of brown sugar, water, cider vinegar, Dijon mustard & honey. Then you baste the loaves with the sauce every 20 minutes until it's done, about 1 hours. What is a ham loaf?
