What Are You Doing New Year's Eve (tomorrow night)?

Not sure if there was a thread asking this question so I figured I'd ask.

I'm going with Hon to a local Pub to watch a friend of mine perform with his band. I might join him on stage later in the night and play a song I wrote. Looking forward to a comfy, low-key night out for New Years. The Pub isn't very far from where we live.

We're too old to do those big blowout celebrations anymore.

Staying home and out of the way of the crazies. My son will be here because he wants to avoid being on the road too. I may or may not be awake when the New Year comes in. This past New Year, my BFF and I were on the phone until a couple of minutes after the ball dropped. What's strange is that we are both on the east coast, but several states apart. We were both watching the ball drop on TV. and it dropped about 30 seconds earlier where she lives!

Einstein might have a fit over that! False advertising or media lies?

I'll be home. Maybe a call or some texting. Some people are pretty uncomfortable with phone calls these days for some reason. Is there some new form of shyness going around?

The old movies made New Year's Eve parties look so fun though, even at home during wartime. Here's a favorite that explores social themes that were tougher back then than today:

A wartime romance about family and courtship and personal baggage.

I'll be home listening to the neighbors' apparent reenactment of the bombing of Dresden, which started last night and will continue for a few days until they either blow a hand off, run out of fireworks or drink up all their beer.

The Spousal Equivalent will, as usual, go to bed at 9:30. I will watch TV as the Waterford Crystal ball thingy drops and then will or will not go in and give his inert head a New Year's kiss. He may or may not wake up and mutter, "What? What?" I will take that as an endearment.

There you go.....that's my exciting New Year's plans.

It's NYE here in Sydney, 4.35 pm (daylight saving time) right now.

I plan to visit Hubby in the nursing home at 6.30pm. We will share some nibbles and soft drink before watching the early (9.00pm) fireworks display over Sydney Harbour on TV.

By midnight I will be tucked up in my bed and so will he in his.

Not the most exciting New Year celebration but being together is enough for us now.

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! 🎉🎊🎆🥳 Well let's see... 40, 30, and 20 years ago, I would have had an exciting agenda to tell you about for what I'd be doing tonight. Even 10 years ago. But now... things have gotten too crazy in the world and we'll be snug right here at home where it's safe and warm to welcome 2024.

I’ll probably try to go to bed before midnight New Year’s Eve, but it’s worse than fireworks here. The crazies shoot off guns into the air, this being ‘Merica and all, and they got their free-dumbs, don’t ’ya know? So I’ll probably see the New Year in by comforting a terrified dog… 😩

Happy Hogmanay for today (31 December) and Happy New Year to all. If I remember correctly, some of you have woken up to the New Year already with our vastly different time zones.

Party on gang, we'll join yous soon enough!

The 2-1/2 of us will be having a fryup for lunch, make our Deviled Eggs for tonight's feast and this afternoon, it's drop donuts making (for the ones if you're close to a Tim Hortons, I'm making homemade Tim Bits!)

Half chocolate, half white, cinnamon sugar and icing sugar. Dinner, sandwiches, cream of broccoli soup, cheeses and eggs!

Watching Hogmanay Live from 11:30pm and bed whenever tired out...

We never had any interest to go out and party on New Years' Eve, even when younger. We don't get too exited over any holidays, used to watch the ball drop more, but since Dick Clark passed, we did that less and less. Fireworks starting already in my neighborhood, we can see a distant show in the air from our yard if desired, the yard is covered in icy snow, so that's not happening. Right now our days and nights are consumed with training/loving our new pup. He goes to bed early and gets up early, so we follow his lead or we wouldn't sleep at all, lol. I really hope the fireworks don't scare him too much, they have to varying degrees with our past dogs. :(

Happy New Year 2024 to everyone! Those going out to party, have fun and please stay safe! 💙

We are not party goers anymore so we will spend the night home watching tv. Will celebrate New Years at 10 pm taking our pills and going to bed. 💊
Now could you ever have imagined saying this when you were 25 ? :D
Wouldn’t happen Holly. Go out, party, drink, celebrate and have a great time. Then, sick for three days. That I don’t miss at all.
