What are you doing today 2023

That's business not politics IMO. I'm getting sick of Apple and so are some of my relatives. Too much exclusivity and their products are overpriced. A friend of mine says Apple upgrades are more like downgrades. Lord knows I've found that to be true! I have a Mac and am trying to decide whether or not to get a PC because of very annoying issues after upgrading my OS.

I switched from iPhone when I had model 4. Now I think they are up to 11. Back then you could change batteries in Android phones but not in iPhones. When my iPhone battery died after minimal usage at a critical time, I said that's it. I've had Android devices ever since and am very happy with them.
Iphone is up to 15 now. Kids think I should get a new one, but I'm not ready yet.

It's dark out now, but will be foggy weather today. Going to the gym with kids later. I feel like a kid in a candy store, I'm so happy they will show me how to use some of the machines I want to use. I don't know which to use first, there are so many. I'm sure I will be tired and sore afterward but this will be fun. I will climb up on that dip machine too, and see if can get comfortable enough to do it by myself going forward. It always feels like I am up so high on that and stepping down is a little risky.

We all ate far too much yesterday and topped if off with some Baileys Irish Cream for good measure. Feeling sluggish but hope that changes.

How nice. I would love to get my daughter's but it's a work phone so I can't. Mine is only a 7. I went with my husband to pick it out.
birdy , your kids are right you'll need to get a new phone soon, because very shortly there will be no updates available for it.

We're on updates iOS 17... and the 7 can't even get iOS16...

Christmas was Great but today I am doing some research on Saltney, Wales.

Hollydolly corrected me, because I thought my father had been born in Wales.
I had a call from my brother yesterday and like me, Chester England is on our birth certificates where dad was born.
He said our dad told him he had been born on the River Dee in the North Country in Wales-and walked to school in England.

Our whole family tree on his side was done years ago but my uncle never gave me a copy of it-and it revealed that a young woman, Hannah Brooks, from our family, came to America long ago and married into the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe.( Massachucetts) and I have much ancestry documentation on that from old church and census records, on Hannah Brooks and her Indian husband. It was not unusual in the 1800s and Indians were given Anglican names , taking the last name of the wife-but he and their children were listed as Indians. Some died of smallpox.
I just realized that maybe Harvard can give me a copy of the family tree. My Uncle was Harvard faculty and their famous historian, Geraldine Brooks ,always told him they might be related and did the whole Brooks family tree. She was an American Indian.

This is an exciting path for me to take- because maybe my father was born in England but went to school in Wales-we thought it was the other way around.

I hope this is not a boring post, as this is some of my research.

  • WOW! My grandfather showed me, LONG Long ago , ads in an old newspaper from England , for his Chain
making business. But the Brooks name to me looked like Brooke. When he came to American he opened his business again, as Brooks Chain. He showed me a few chain links and they were enormous and used on ships.
  • I am very happy that HollyDolly brought up the fact that Chester was Not in Wales.
  • Because it is exciting to me to learn how many surprises can show up when we dig into our ancestor's past!

That breaks my heart, every product I had received or purchased from them had been perfect. I even go there when I want ham for sandwiches, so much better from any deli and reasonable in the same cost area. I will admit that I have a honey baked ham store just a couple of miles from home. Maybe they are not so good overseas but in my community they are well loved.. So much so that I often fo early to purhase if I want something because the lines are ridulous.

Do they have stores there are is everything bought online and shipped in,, maybe that is the difference. <
Maybe they were not stored at the right temps in transit to the stores?

Christmas has come and gone. As is my normal I have been awake all night. The depression sets in for all the people gone from my life. I spent the night reflecting on the joys of family memories. Sad but happy that I had so many special people that loved me. I will try to get a grip and move on to the new year for all of us. They would not want the sadness and tears but I can't help it. A good long cry is a healthy thing.

superb... ! You're completely right, Saltney is the closest town in England to Wales on the Chester Welsh Border. I'm delighted you've now got a new route to travel on your historical quest

yes chikadee.. but too much crying causes depression, so be careful... we want you to be better in 2024..

Morning folks....well I had a decent nites sleep for a change, about 7 hrs worth, yay.....it is cold at 31F, not going up much and may start snow around noon here, current time 7am..
Have some things to launder, and medical calls to make, not
much else going on...debating on geetting a small humidfier
to help my copd, dunno about that yet.,......so anyhoo have a
great day where ever you are !!!!!:love::devilish:

Today I am vacuuming my apartment. Putting some things in my storage locker. I took down my Christmas decorations and cards that were outside my door and on my door already. Eager to put 2023 behind me and get onto the new year. If it is a nice day weather wise, I will drive Jazzy (mobility chair) to the Grand Union for more bunny food.
Is that the real Jazzy scooter or did you just nickname it Jazzy? We get a lot of those Jazzy scooters in where I volunteer and they are very popular.

We'll be doing our usual Coosday activities today. I'm looking forward to burning some calories at the gym.

Shopping will be quick, at the small store. I expect Wal-Mart to be jammed packed, since today is the 2nd busiest shopping day of the year. It will be a good place to avoid! 😆

Unwinding as much of Christmas as I can to get a start early this time. Not taking down lights yet, but putting wrapping materials back to bed, getting some boxes ready for recycling pickup, and maybe getting snow removal gear together. This heat wave will not last.

Hitting the pharmacy for a prescription that came in. Might browse through the deep discounted leftovers there but probably won't buy much but maybe some XMas bags if they are cheap enough.

Anyone feel the forum has gotten more................aggressive and intolerant?

Anyone, today posting feels like trying to pick my way through a mine field. :D
Your comment took me by surprise, as I haven't noticed this to be true, but my life's been busy with baking and cooking, so I looked at the threads you've posted on within the last 24 hours to see what you mean.
They include:
Rosa Parks re-enactment by a two-year-old
Columbine and school shooting thread
Migrants walking toward the US southern border
Globalism impacts
The Destroyers of Peace
Crooked Christians
Israel thread

I avoid confrontation when possible and have not only not posted on any of these threads, I didn't even notice many were on SF.

Those who (consciously or not) are drawn to threads with contentious subject matter will encounter strong opinions on every possible side.

I generally avoid contentious threads and therefore my experience of SF is that it's a welcoming, supportive, gentle place to be.
