@Kaila There are four people who work in the bakery. Sir, Retired Lady, New Lady, me. Our work week is Sunday through Saturday. My days off next week are Sunday and Thursday. Sir and Retired Lady are scheduled to work those days.
Sir and Retired Lady work five days. Sir usually starts at 5 or 6 and is off at 1 or 2; Retired Lady works 8-4. New Lady had been scheduled two days from 6-12, but next week she works three days from 8-12. I finally got lucky and only had to work four days 6-12; now back to five days 6-12.
I guess they figured that although there's a lot to learn it's not rocket science, and after the first three weeks, New Lady could pick up the slack so that I could just work four days. They figured wrong.
When I started and whenever there's been someone new, the first three days the schedule noted that we were "training." After that, we were just regular employees. New Lady is still shown on the schedule as "training" after three weeks.
She's not stupid but not one bit motivated to learn anything to get the job done, probably because she knows she's going to have surgery and won't be there long anyway.
Truth to tell, she's as useless as teats on a boar hog and more in the way than helpful.
Sigh.
Oh...and not to worry, when I'm not going to be there the next day, I make sure that plenty of cookies have been baked and packaged and that the racks are set up and the croissants are laid out for whomever is opening up to be proofed and baked in the morning. The croissants are packaged and on the shelves by 9, thus making our customers happy and making Kroger safe for democracy and stuff.
