What are you doing today 2023

The fun never stops in the bakery.

Sir was scheduled today from 9-4:30. He came in at 9 looking...um...like he was armed for bear. Said NLNL called him at home at 6am wanting to know what her company ID # is. WTH? She's been with the company long enough to know what it is. He told her he was sleeping, didn't appreciate a 6am wakeup call to ask a question that she should know the answer to, and to call the store and ask whoever was on duty in HR. She does something every day to tighten the noose.

Retired Lady said "She did whaaat? At 6am? She's crazy." Yes, yes she is. And not very bright, either.

@MrPants all the idiots aren't at the airport. One of them is right here in Atlanta.

Wish I could have your attitude @Georgiagranny. Hope you are right, the full moon I mean. Am definitely out of sorts. Everything yesterday that could have gone wrong DID, except laundry! That went fine.

Hoping today will go better. My issues are dependent on the good will of others, HAH. Hate when that happens. Have been so self isolated lately, wonder if I'm getting dementia. Seriously. Just feel I lost my connections, or in the process of losing them. I'm down, baby now you're moving way too fast... 🎵

I have you! I can discuss it with you!
@Pepper you're not getting dementia. I think you're just bored out of your gourd. Take advantage of whomever can help you get out of the house, maybe pick up a craft?
You're too spicy to sit around. ;)

In fact, I'm gonna take my own advice and go to the store and buy eggs!

Lazed in bed all morning.

Book club today at 6 o'clock. I'll go to the library an hour early, to get books and use the Wi-Fi. Maybe I'll get something printed too.

That doesn't leave me much "afternoon" to work with. I feel disappointed that I might not get all my exercises in. I guess I should feel glad that I have something to do, besides exercise and housework!

Egg prices dropped a bit but went back up again here, too. Nearly $4/dozen for large eggs in most places. Glad my annual extreme baking period is behind me.

Toddler grandson is partial to a scrambled egg with his breakfast and I'm down to just a couple, so it's time pick some up. Hoping Costco will have them when I go this week.

I simply *must* do some back reading and find out who these people are... the "cast of characters"... I'm slowly catching on and love your "Bakery Escapades" posts, but I need a cheat sheet. :giggle: @Georgiagranny

@CallMeKate The cast changes. Often. Except for me and Sir.

Since I started working there, we've had a parade of part timers who didn't stay. Too numerous to mention, some of whose names I've forgotten. There've been maybe six? Seven? Eight? Who knows!

We did have one who left because he was going to school in the fall. I'd pay good money to get him back because he actually...gasp...worked. Hard. And he was as dependable as church on Sunday. Alas, he's gone.

Sir is the supervisor.

We have Retired Lady, who worked for the company for 20+ years. She and her family were Bosnian refugees back in the early 90s during the war there. They saved their pennies so that they could go back someday. She retired because Someday finally got here. They are building a house in their hometown and went back last summer but it became clear that they wouldn't have heat or electricity by winter so came back to wait it out with plans to go back in the spring. She signed on again with the company to kill time until spring. Now it's spring. Her last day is March 31😭

Our most recent part-timer was New Lady, now referred to as No Longer New Lady...NLNL...because she claimed to be having surgery, so Sir didn't schedule her to work last week and says she definitely will not be working in the bakery again. She was and is a train wreck. Abrasive. And I think she was trying to practice "learned helplessness." Or something. She wasn't very good at it. Not sure how long she's been with the company, but we got her from the fuel center. We didn't ask for her, although we were desperate for another pair of hands connected to a strong back and a brain. She was assigned to us when she wore out her welcome in the fuel center.

Anyway, Sir didn't schedule her to work this week or next, either. He told her it's because he doesn't have enough hours to schedule her for any at all. He doesn't, and that's a fact. Even if he had been allotted more hours, he wouldn't have scheduled her to work. Yanno...what with her recovering from "surgery" and all...

Stay tuned.

Today I finally got my friend's printer going. She has a very old computer ( you know with the tower and monitor) and silly son bought her a splendid wireless printer which does everything but the kitchen sink.
Anyway in return she copied my tax work sheet to the copy which has to be filed as my thumb that isn't there does not co-operate when I try to write so all in all a good day.
Just a few sad moments this morning when I realized the date.
65 years ago I was married to 'him' on this date. We divorced 25 years later.
Incredible how time seems like nothing when you have such a memory.

Lovely sunny day here but still nippy cold.

@hollydolly I've only been there about a year and a half. Do you remember that before the bakery I was the Biscuit Bitch for about six months at a local fast-food breakfast place? The cleaning fairy "career" lasted about 10 years.

Being the Biscuit Bitch was entertaining most of the time, but much of the time it was downright scary knowing that there were employees who were packing, who were drunk, who were high...

Hm. Aren't we supposed to rise in our careers? I mean...I rose and rose and rose (heck, all the way to the C Suite!), came back to the US and designed digital long distance circuits back in the day when digital meant having something to do with fingers, then retired.

Started cleaning other people's toilets? Making biscuits at 4am? Baking croissants at 6am? Ahhhh...the Peter Principle. Apparently, I'm Peter :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: and a little concerned that if I leave the bakery, I might become a street sweeper.

LOL..I don't remember the Biscuit Bitch.. you were away from the forum for a while, remember ?... I do remember the Cleaning fairy very well.. you were as you are now.. a frenzied workaholic... :D

@hollydolly Frenzied Workaholic. That covers it :ROFLMAO:

Whatever on earth would I do if I didn't work? If I could still be a cleaning fairy, I would be. I like my bakery job a whole lot but honestly can't stand all the corporate BS. They come along with all sorts of "training" crap so that we can move up in our "careers." Screw careers. I just want a job, do it, go home, fuggedaboudit until the next shift.

And who's the part-timer who really believes that working as unskilled labor in a supermarket is going to lead to a career? Shoot, they don't hire anybody full time so that they don't have to offer benefits that cost them $$. Doesn't matter to me because I don't need their benefits, but it matters to peeps who need health insurance, retirement income, etc. They "offer" tuition reimbursement. If you're a full time employee, but play up that "benefit" when offering a part-time job.

I literally started the day taking care of music business. My good friend Tee and I were on the phone for more than two and a half hours, spanning past midnight, while she made the minor changes I requested in my music video. I am so pleased with what she came up with, which is beyond my expectations. Over the years she has produced videos for herself and other recording artist friends.

I sent out a few emails this morning and finally finished putting away the clothes I washed last week and the few groceries that I left in the tote. Played Cody Cross and WWF, read the news on a couple of my apps, napped and watched a little T.V.

This wasn’t that long ago. You were debating staying there or going to Krogers.

I’ll bet Sir goes home every night and tells his wife how thankful he is that you joined the team. BTW, is Sir married?

Woke up to find that about 6 inches of snow had fallen overnight and temp had been down to -15 C in parts of Scotland. However we have clear blue skies and bright sunshine making it feel quite nice outside. I pulled on my 'wellies' and headed down the garden to fill the bird feeder. Recently, I've noticed several blue tits waiting as soon as I've filled the feeder. This morning, as soon as I appeared, they were gathering round. I wouldn't say they were tame, but they certainly know that when I appear, that means breakfast.
