A good morning with Likkle Grandson. Took him to Hest Bank to see his first full sized steam train whizing past. He loves watching YouTube videos of them but this is his first experience of one "In the metal" - and he loved it. It even blew it's whistle. "Chuffer Chuffer tooted for Oliver!" he exclaimed:love:

Not long home..it's almost 3.30pm ..glorious sunny day but very humid.... I drove over to the next county to have a drink with my friends.. and while I was there I did my shopping. I was trying to find a clear glass Vase..I tried every store that was likely to have one, and none did.. so in the end I bought a clear glass sitting on top of a stone pedestal... the shape of an old fashioned lamplight...

Got deliveries this morning from Amazon.. bought a cordless air compressor because the Cigarette lighter in my car is broken so I can't use it to pump up my tyres...This cordless compressor looks like a cordless drill in shape..so it'll be handy to have when and if I get the Cigarette lighter repaired.
I did buy fuses in case it was fuse that had gone, but despite instructions on how to get into the fusebox, I just can't get it open..

Also got a couple of resin plant troughs, and one of them is broken, so I have to return that..

Hope you're all having a good day...:D

Morning all folks......been lazy about checking in, just been
lazy in general past couple days....got my back pain up to
about a 9 today...walked around outside to put ammonia in
the critter holes to discourage them....now thats a walk of
about 60feet around the whole house, and my back was
seizing up...so thats it for the day....hope you all have
a better day......;)

Deadheading done. More weeds have been annihilated. Some laundry swishing. Dishes washed! After while, I'll even tidy up The Hovel. Not saying that I'll dust, but I'll vacuum.

And tomorrow? DS's car is fixed. Yay. I want so much to say I told you so but will bite my tongue. Anyway, they are coming for lunch tomorrow and bringing enchiladas. I ❤️ their visits. The weather is supposed to cooperate and be sunny and not too warm. Yippee.

According to the weather forecast, rain is gonna start here around 2ish this afternoon. They only sure thing about the weather is that it will be outdoors.

Will be mostly staying indoors for the next few days until the air quality improves. The majority of wildfires are in Alberta or Northern BC and that smoke is spreading in all directions. It’s gone as far Toronto and expected to affect NYC soon. It’s also drifting north from Washington State.

Calgary, Alberta is in the centre of it all.

PS. I hope @northernlights is ok. She’s way up north in the smoke and fire zones.

And being in Manitoba…..the smoke has definitely increased…..yesterday was the worst so far.
I feel for all those going through these fires……how heartbreaking, and for the wildlife. 😞.

The two hummingbird babies in front of our side door entrance apparently hatched only 2 days ago, and already now there seems to be little space for further growth inside the nest. How do they manage? I am so glad I am not a hummingbird mother having to worry about that. And funny, we have two feeders only 3 feet away but mom never drinks from them but stays away from the nest longer and longer. Only other hummingbirds come and drink regularly from the two feeders. Now that the babies hatched, mom is building up the nest higher, probably to avoid squashing the babies.

A long time ago when my boys were young teens, we were eating dinner one evening, and I told them that after we finished and cleaned up we were going to the mall to buy them new sneakers. DS2 piped up and wanted to know why just when his shoes were comfortable and just right, some "groan"-up would come along and insist that they were old and shabby and had to be replaced.

I have a pair of Keds that are old and comfortable and just right. They're a little shabby, and I have a new pair just like them...but I don't wanna give up the old ones. New shoes always look like...well...new shoes👟👟

Let’s see……did the grocery thing, expensive like usual…..one thing about living in a large place, competition helps bring prices down.
Also looking forward to make menus with things I can’t get here, and or, don’t want to pay the stupid price here.

Turned the thermostat up again today…..a whopping big 6c out there today, with a COLD north wind….on May 18. 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶.

Just got a text from my realtor, saying the new owners are so happy and excited…..made my day extra good.

So exciting to see……never have I ever been able to find a hummingbird nest, not even on the farm, I looked and looked with no luck.

Seeing as how it's raining, this may be an oportunity for me to get really, really fit, by jumping about frantically dodging indivivual raindrops, but then, someone may come along and spoil it by saying, "D'ya wanna borrow my brolly?" 😊

We have ticked off one or two things on our, to do before I die list, one of the best being when we travelled on The Orient Express, steam hauled. But today, the tickets arrived for an event that I wouldn't even dream of going to. My tailor has organised a special day out for his esteemed clients. On Sunday 2nd July we are to be wined and dined at The Guards Club where we will watch The Archie David polo cup final. Real polo, on horse back, me, a raggedy kid from London's East End. Oh my, tea at The Palace next!

Sunny & warm.. albeit slightly overcast... . Neighbour who is well into his 80's with such knee problems he walks as though he's crouching IYSWIM,( in that his knees are very bent )... is trimming his huge hedge. He worries me because the hedge is at least 10 feet high... and he trims it with a corded hedge trimmer.. and my heart is in my mouth thinking he's going to slice right through that lead...

He's not stupid by any means.. ( Ex Cop)... but he's just not steady on his feet... Last summer when he was standing on a tall ladder to cut the top of the hedge ( which is very long ).. I offered to lend him my Long reach cordless hedge trimmer.. and he was just to come over and get it.. he never did.. so I don't want to offer again, in case he think I'm being patronising..

I saw the lawn care people at a hotel had a long saw attachment and just went along the hedges like butter. It reached some tall hedges too.
I'd love to have one of those.
Nice if you to offer your trimmer to him. At least maybe he'll take the hint and buy one.

Its raining and I have to drive an hour for a Dr appt.
DH comes home today for the weekend.Yay! One more week down.
I'm actually driving to my daughter's tomorrow for pre scheduled watching of kids for important event.
Don't feel bad though. I worked very hard this week so he has food and nothing to do but go but through his mail and his load of laundry. I will be here when he gets home today and breakfast tomorrow. My son is coming down to help with any yard stuff.
I will actually leave my daughter's and drive to his hotel Tues and spend a couple days.
I think he'll enjoy having the house to himself TBH so he can just relax and enjoy his garden.
