What are you doing today 2023

Well today was a perfect day at the beach…. Enough breeze, not too hot…. Watching pelicans skim the surface of the water and gulls swoop…. Kids dug in the sand, tossed footballs and rode the “waves”. (S GA coastal waves are *pffft* compare to S California…. I’m not impressed).

Youngest granddaughter is a water baby for sure. She loves the motion/sensation of the waves

Remy, I’d let him get your brother off as fast as possible. If your brother decides to interfere with anything, you may be the one who is the most inconvenienced. Heaven forbid that something happen to you before your stepfather, he can then have your brother put back on.

(This is what I meant to say to you when I misplaced the quote.)
Thanks. It's hard to know what my brother might do. He is likely a narcissist from the abuse we had as kids. He's twisted, there is no rational communication with him. I doubt he'd ever come out to California again. He came out and had my stepfather's 60's truck shipped back east. It's all he wanted. But he has to play and be the hero. He's literally put me down stating I'm not doing anything. This is why I'm not speaking to him. And I'm not in the mood to deal with my stepfather's shrinking brain, irrational thinking. I'll help him, even if I resent it but I have my limits.

I told my stepfather that my brother doesn't know about the durable power of attorney unless my stepfather told him and he stated he hasn't.

Moved a very scraggly but fruitful Cherry Tomato plant to the backyard
Replaced it with a pot of Celosia Dragon's Breath in front of this tiny 1945 Blue Bottle Cottage

We don't have a lottery of any kind here in Alabama.
Saw the Powerball lottery is expected to be $1 BILLION for Wednesday night drawing.
Will drive the mere 25miles to Florida this afternoon to pick up a ticket.
One chance to win a billion dollars ... won't happen.
But will be a nice Tuesday afternoon drive in the country :)
why do you have to drive to Florida to buy a ticket ?

I've just applied online for a new GHIC .. a Globel Health insurance card... which lasts 5 years and covers me for any health related issues when travelling in Europe and allows me the same care , and or same cost of care as a Citizen of that country.. . Mine has just run out this month...so it's really important to have one. when travelling even alongside health insurance.. or face having to be treated at a much more expensive facility or not at all..

Holly, can't buy a lottery ticket here in the state of Alabama.
No big deal. While I live in Alabama, I'm only 25miles from the Florida state line.
And it's pleasant rural driving with plenty of straightaways to pass slower vehicles, such as farm equipment.

Each state has their own state laws in the U.S. and Alabama doesn't do lotteries or casinos or such.
I love where I'm at in Alabama. It's just far enough back not to be much affected by hurricanes.
But close enough to the coast to enjoy a day trip to the sugary beaches of the Gulf of Mexico

well Alabama would suit me..I don't gamble...however , what a great idea.. have a place that prohibits gambling.. mind you.. Lottery tickets aside.. can't people in Alabama just gamble online ?

However.. I've learned something new today..I didn't realise Alabama was so close to Florida... :D

Dear me! We're at Code Red for air quality because of the smoke. The local news showed pictures of downtown that are so "foggy" that the buildings can hardly be made out. It must be the smoke combined with smog?

It's kind of bad up here but the air is mostly breathable.

I'm sure they could Holly but that would be the ONLY way to gamble (legally) in Alabama. I don't trust online casinos though.
Back when I was in the military and bored one day about +20yrs ago, I deposited $200 in an online casino bank.
I was playing Black Jack and over the course of a week, accumulated $600 in winnings.
I followed the procedures on the site for cashing out but never heard a word from them. They ignored me.
I kept playing several weeks until I lost the $600. Price of entertainment I guess.

I've played in casinos all over the world while traveling in the military but was never big time. Always just to have fun.
Some of the chips collected in my travels and kept as mementos. Including both Loews and the American Salon in Monte Carlo.
But also, Kenya, Belgium, Puerto Rico, Aruba and others ... been there done that ... but not today ;)

I had no idea that the smoke had reached Georgia!!! It seems like it's everywhere! 😵

Sun is shining at present, but forecast is for being cool and showery. While some of Europe is roasting, we're hoping for some decent weather.
We had a spell of warm dry weather in June, but overall, the weather hasn't been very good this year.

Daughter is arriving tomorrow for a few weeks, so we want to get her room tidied and the house looking neat. If we're working inside, I don't suppose it matters if it's raining, but it's mid July and we deserve a bit of sunshine.

Lovely day yesterday. Met up with my gal pals for a long, chatty lunch and then took a slow walk home in the sunshine. Much cooler today and rain but, that's okay because all the washing dried in the sun yesterday so, a couple of chores and then I plan to get my sewing machine out this afternoon and use up some of the fabric stash in the sewing cupboard. Have a good day everyone. (y)
