What are you doing today 2023

I doubt I can forecast all that I'll do today. But... Making a friend, who's with us for a couple days, feel comfortable. Repairing the extension cord I seem to rely on most for outdoors. Sorting old lumber from a shed I dismantled, the re-usable from what's just supply for our wood stove. Trying to figure out how moisture (from rain) is slightly seeping under our home's south door.

Hi, kids...yanno that list of stuff I mentioned earlier this morning?

Laundry done and even hung up, folded and/or put away. Hovel vacuumed. Trash emptied.

Grout pens? Pffft. They're nothing more that I can see except a little tube of white paint. One did the grout between nine tiles. Nine and that's just the bathroom. DD had two more pens that she let me have. There are still two pens' worth of tiles to finish. Grrrr.

I'm not gonna waste any more time or money to do the kitchen.

And now I'm waiting on my lunch, Meal For One, that DD got for me to try. It's tiny red potatoes and chicken breast stuffed with sun dried tomato and cheese. Says 45 minutes at 375. I'm hungry now and there are still 20 minutes to go.

How hungry am I? I could chew a baby's butt through the slats of a park bench.
 

Well..I've done very little today... except the cleaning of the kitchen which tbf doesn't take long to do... and then my monthly Vaccing all the way through the house with the powerful Miele ... in between times I use the handheld cordless Vacs' upstairs and down but every month I go through the house with the real deal.. and also Vac the ceilings etc... then mopped through.. only kitchen, bathrooms and foyer to mop so it's not too bad..

I made Chicken in the AF for dinner .. instead of the planned. Mac & cheese.. trying to be good on my diet...

Raining today, and rain is expected tonight around 9pm (it's 7.30pm now) until Saturday morning.. there's been severe weather alerts from the Met office for days about it.. ..

Strangest thing ever. Hm. There's a $9 deposit from Social Security pending for tomorrow. No explanation and no answers on the SSA website. What? That's never happened before. Nope. Never. My next SS check will be deposited next Wednesday, the 18th. Wonder if it will be $9 less than usual. Do I trust the gubbmint to get it right? Hell to the no!

That Dinner for One was disappointing, and I couldn't eat it all🤢.

I spent most of today running errands. One of my stops was the hardware store to buy a plug because the plug on my counter top convection oven needs to be replaced. I use it a lot especially in the summer when it's hot, so I don't have to turn on my range and heat up the whole kitchen. I'll try replacing it tomorrow and let you know how that goes if I can manage not to electrocute myself.27

I'm still here! I managed to replace the plug on my convection oven with the help of a friend. Now it's working just fine, I'm happy to say. 🙂

The new solar lights are still twinkling! Yippee.

Working alone today. Not yippee.

Now it's time to gather my wits and gird my loins so that I can bop off to the bakery and make the world safe for democracy supply the city with 🥐 🥐 🥐.

Yesterday myself and the lovely lady from over yonder attended a wedding.... No, no, no not ours.... behave yourself 😊, we were invited guests.

The lovely lady was busy mingling with other guests and I found myself sitting next to a lady who had severe memory problems.

I asked this lady if she liked music and she told me that her favourite song was 'Without You by Frank', well I scratched my head thinking, "Sinatra never recorded a song with that name", then I had a eureka moment and I nipped around the corner to my place, dug out an old mobile cassette player and found the tape where Frankie Vaughan sings, 'There Must Be a Way', then I came back to the reception, put the cassette player in her hands and switched it on.
This is what came out of that cassette player.... and the very last two words of the song were/are this lady's favourite song.... she smiled the broadest smile I've seen in ages. 😊

 
Morning all... just hammered with rain all night last night, and it's still raining now at almost mid-day... no sign of it stopping yet...but again I'm not concerned because I'm staying home..

Friday the 13th... anyone superstitious over it ?

After some overnight rain, it's a beautiful autumn day here. I'd love to take the day off, but we've launched into a major re-decoration and we had to do some shopping for wallpaper paste. Took the opportunity to visit the fishmonger and the butcher to stock up.

Do any of you still paper your walls? There seems to be a distinct lack of paper and paint shops round here so we were fortunate to find paper that we liked.

Most of my walls are papered, but painted over... ( except the bathrooms, kitchen and my little office room)...I've also got a feature wall in the livingroom of red paper..which is in it's original state, not painted ... that paper cost and arm and a lung even 12 years ago...
 
Have to watch a YouTube video to teach me how to use my at home sleep study equipment. Goes around chest, finger, in nose. Must run for six hours. I always make a big deal out of doing something new. I'm sure it's quite simple, but don't like doing anything different anymore. It scares me. How foolish.
 
DD just rang, we're making plans for a Xmas Dinner during December with friends... we're more open to choices of restaurants and places now that she can be away from the house for longer since the dogs have now passed.. Little pixie the chihuahua will be happily looked after by DD's friends and neighbours.. so it means she doesn't have to stay close to home, as she's had to do for the last 20 years , and only be out for a maximum of 4 hours...


Rain has stopped, sun is out but it's very breezy now...

I don't think you ever need to gather your wits, you always seem to have them in spades. As for the loins, that's beyond my knowledge (Ha ha)
 
Just been drying out the Barn.. the rain was so heavy during the night it leaked in above the Freezer.. so that was soaking wet and there was a little puddle of water on the floor. I had the flooring made from Marine ply so therefore it;s able to stand up to the wet when necessary.. but I just don't want rain coming in over the freezer... . I turned the de-humidifier on in there to dry everything out after I dried it all with towels, and mop...

That lady wasn't alone in getting the song title wrong. For years I thought that a song recorded by Mr Sinatra was titled 'This Time', only to discover later that the real title was 'Didn't We'....... and here it is... 😊

That $9. deposit from S.S. is a definite mystery! Nothing would be that amount. Let us know. Very curious!o_O:unsure:

Before you actually see it, and get any chance to spend it!😄

And those type of dinners are convenient and sound so good in words,
but nearly always (or always?) disappoint.
Sorry yours remained true to those past experiences of mine.

Received half of Amazon order. Still to check Music CD, installed new drawer handles and daughter's tried her USB Stick to USB-C and she's happy it transferred all her files.

Making fryup for dinner. Housework is done. Oops, just had a glance at calendar, forgot to flip it three days late 😂. Off to change the date...
 
@bobcat I'm clocked out now and letting my wits loose to run wild. Loins are going to re-girded in sweats.

@Kaila I finally found a place on the web that told me the $9 is an overpayment for 2022 taxes. I have no idea why it came from SSA and not the IRS. It's in my account now and no longer pending. Fine by me.

It's only 65 here and overcast, spitting a bit of rain here and there. I won't be sitting on the teeny tiny patio this afternoon.

After thinking on it for a few minutes, I'm not gonna wear sweats. I'm keeping my skinny jeans on because they hug me and make me feel warmer and gonna throw a flannel shirt on over my t-shirt, too. It's a tad too nippy to suit me.
