It's a shame they don't put that talent into original music instead of just doing covers. I guess they wouldn't have the views they get doing covers.
It's not a shame if you're not a good song writer.

Josh's original stuff isn't that great.

But he's an excellent guitar player and music/video producer.
I like how he interprets the music to an acoustic guitar.

I haven't seen any cover bands produce original music worth anything.
Again because they lack the input of proven studio musicians.

Great music of the past was put together by other than just the songwriters.
But you have to pay for that. If you just cover a song, all the money you make is yours.

The guy from Pomplamoose said he makes a million dollars a year covering songs in his own way and on video.

This is a pretty good song. I believe it's an original.

When he does a cover of a song, he has to pay royalties to the holder of the song's copyright. I don't know how much he had to pay to do that ELO song, but he might have only gotten a few hundred dollars from it. He might do it to get his name out there so when he plays concerts, he can get larger audiences and charge more for tickets.

He's extremely talented. I might pay to watch him perform if he ever came through my city.

I just did a little research (I asked AI) and Josh and his wife earn most of their income from their Patreon account, by producing other artists, and doing session work. So when he puts out these videos on YouTube, they might primarily function as commercials for his production company.
