I've always understood it to be figurative.Someone once said this to me, when I had a crick in my ankle ... I tried it and ended up on crutches for weeks!
Needless to say - I never tried "walking it off" ever again.
It takes more than a young rooster like you to cock an old hen like me.(Autie Joan's favourite saying)
A proper quote for that is:My father used to always tell us as youngsters: "Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you what you are".

That's a good one. I saw a bumper sticker on a car once that I hated; it said "When the aliens land, they're gonna eat all you fat people first." Sometimes I wish I could've followed that car and put on top of that mean sticker one that said, "When the famines hit--which let's face it, is more likely than aliens landing--all you skinny people are gonna die first." But that would be too long for a bumper sticker, lol.Saw this one on one of those big green freeway signs once.
Please buckle up. It makes it harder for the aliens to snatch you from your car.
