What are your favorite sitcoms?

Have always been a fan of Big Bang Theory, and still watch their reruns..
I catch Young Sheldon sometimes. I love the cast of crazy characters.

In the past I watched Friends, Fraiser, Cheers, Seinfeld and other funny sitcoms.
You and I could watch TV together, no problem! Those are my favs too!

I don't have any TV service, so I don't really know what's on these days. Last summer I re-watched six seasons of Northern Exposure. Got them from the library. Watched it over a period of several months, interspersed with a few other things. It was a nice trip down memory lane. Mike
Thanks for reminding me of that old goody. Will have to check if any of the streaming services i get have it.

Having a Roku allows me to visit the past as all I watch now are cooking competitions and history documentaries.
Currently I am gradually watching episodes of Dick Van Dyck and Mary Tyler Moore. On the British side, I am gradually going through the detective series Wycliffe
We have Roku also and enjoy the variety of things including old shows of all kinds. Something for every mood even just music.

Since there are things my daughter and i like to watch together and currently she works 'second shift' hours with only one day a week off that frequently changes it is helpful that we don't have to watch newer shows the night they first air.

I frequently revisit old ones thanks to streaming services. Current ones i watch faithfully are Connors, Ghosts, Bob ❤️ Abishola, and Blackish which is now in last season. When Big Bang Theory was still running it was one of the few things i'd watch as soon as CBS aired it. And CBS now part of Paramount Plus service.

Sit Coms have come a long way since early days of TV. Sure there's some silliness but 1) i've found that a lot things are humorous because they ring true in life. 2) In a world where people feel free to judge everyone different from them and scream at strangers for not anticipating and catering to their wants, i tend to think we can use some silliness and the ability to laugh at the foibles of ourselves and other humans.

I loved All in the family, Seinfield, and many others. There aren't any ones I like now.
Yeah, All in the Family kinda turned the corner for sitcoms.

So did Cheers
and Seinfeld (until the good writers went south)
Then came Big Bang

Most others are just poor writing enhanced with laugh tracks

Last one I enjoyed was Three and a Half Men

Haven't sat thru a sitcom in years

All time favorites were Barney Miller and Andy Griffith ( with Barney) Big bang theory and now I'm on a third or forth round of Fraiser from start to finish. And waitng for the final season of Doc Martin if they ever finish filming it....

There are a few i liked .... not necessarily names everyone is familiar with as they often had subtle humor that the very casual watcher might have missed.
Scrubs ,
WKRP in Cincinnati,
Life in pieces,
Frasier,
Third Rock from the Sun are ones that come to mind.

We didn't watch, "Third Rock From the Sun" while it was on its first run -- we had long periods of not much TV at all-- but we bought the series set on DVDs a few years ago and watched two shows every night. We literally laughed till we cried.

Cut the cable over 21 years ago. So these days I am spending my hard-earned cash on DVDs from Amazon. I am watching the 1st half of the 4th year of Rawhide. Also, yesterday I started the 15th year of Gunsmoke. Not sure if these qualify as sitcoms but I don't care because I sure lov' em! Sometimes I watch the "biggest crime fighter of them all," Cannon." I know most people are great fans of Netflix but it does nothing for me. About once/month I look at Netflix, choose one movie, look at it for a few minutes and just reach for my good old DVDs. Why? Maybe it's the bad music in the movies, maybe it's the bad acting, maybe it's the swearing for no reason, maybe it's the violence or maybe it's all of these factors. So it's back to Marshall Dillon, Doc, Kitty, Festus and back to Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates and Eric Fleming as Gil Favor. They never disappoint and my blood pressure doesn't rise as when I try to watch Netflix. Sometimes I think that Netflix could give me a heart attack so I stay away.

I never really sat down to watch sitcoms, but when we had cable, I would make copies of the oldies to watch later. You never know when they'll stop showing them, and I always thought of them as historical in nature (dress code, the culture, etc). I have
watched these shows (mostly comedies) on an ad hoc basis whenever I needed something to make me smile/laugh for a half hour:

Andy Griffith (loved Andy's wisdom)
Beverly Hillbillies (loved all the actors)
Gilligan's Island (loved all the actors)
Hogan's Heroes (loved the historical aspect)
I Love Lucy (loved Lucy)
The Nanny (everyone's hilarious, except it got really raunchy toward the end)

Lesser watched:
I Dream of Jeannie
Green Acres (Gabor can be grating at times)
Bonanza

There are more, but can't remember them...

I loved the opening sequence of "Gunsmoke."
