What are your OCD habits/qwerks?

I'll admit to three to start...
1) I never leave the bedroom for the day in the morning without making the bed first.
2) I always do the left foot first when putting on socks and/or shoes.
3) I always put on pants while standing up, no matter how much I may have to hop around to get it done. Doing it while seated seems like giving up to old age. :D

The ketchup bottle has to have the 'Heinz 57' label facing you. How else would you know that big bottle with the red stuff was ketchup?
I have a bottle of Purell on my toilet tank, and the pump thing has to line up exactly with the space, above, between the two doors of my medicine cabinet.
I have to have a " back up" for every product I use. I have two jars of peanut butter, two tubs of butter, two bottles of dish soap, two boxes of trash bags, two shampoo bottles, two loafs of bread, two salt containers, two ....- you get the idea.

I do not like clutter.
Bottles, jars etc always have the labels facing outwards.
I couldn't leave home without making the bed.
In a text, even in a post here, if I spot a mistake I have to edit.

1.For an extended period of time I found that I was counting one particular model of vehicle when driving.
2. When dining out I tend to put the items on the table in a particular order and aligned one specific pattern. (my wife quietly watches this and moves things around when something else gets my attention.)
3. I will rearrange things in my closet so that the clothes are always in place with the front facing the left of the closet.

I think mine is bedtime at night. Everything around me has to start going to sleep right when I do. If not, I keep thinking about stuff. It is totally my problem, but it hard to convince myself that it is not he other stuff going on. I am getting a little better as time goes on.

I have 8 facecloths, four grey and four blue. They’re the same except for the colour. They’re stored in alternating colours and must be used that way. Every night I set out the one for the next day. It has to be done this way. There isn’t a logical reason for this, it just must be done.

I'm a counter... I count time in my head... backwards..... so for example if I'm waiting for something that takes a few minutes.. maybe something to cook, or anything... I count backwards.

I'm such an impatient person that if the thing..doesn't materialise in the time I've given it ..I give up and walk away.

For example.. drop my car off at the garage have to get a bus back home.. See that the bus is due in 10 minutes.. I wait..no bus... I start then..counting from a random number.. say 100... down to 1... if that bus doesn't turn up by the time I;ve counted down..I will walk.. even tho' it's a 30 minute walk.. and the bus may pass me on the way home..

same in the house. If I'm expecting something to be ready in a certain time and it isnt then I'll start counting down... random number like say 50... and if it;s not ready then I give up..or use the item as it is...

You know you should not make the bed as soon as you get up. The bed needs to be aired before the covers stop it from drying out from the previous night...so by making the bed first thing you're locking in all the moisture... we lose up to half a pint or more during the night..

..and according to the experts...

quote '' 'If the moisture isn’t given the opportunity to evaporate' 'it can breed bacteria and fungi. This means that not only will your mattress not last as long, but it also puts the mattress owner at risk of being exposed to staphylococcus, enterococcus and norovirus, all of which have been discovered to be in dirty mattresses'.

I always leave my bed unmade until a couple of hours after I get up...

I read that, I remember it said that making the bed soon after you get up creates the perfect breeding ground for bugs. :(

I have to many to list.lots of checking locks especially my car I will check 5 times or more every day.always washing.my hands.i have to wash or disinfect my hands after I get the mail.lots of contamination issues. I go to therapy and take medication for anxiety.

Every time I get back from somewhere, as soon as I walk into my apartment I have to put my keys away, take off my shoes and jacket or whatever I am wearing over my clothes and put away in their proper places. Then put whatever I bought away quickly so I can put the shopping bags away.

I guess my morning routine could be OCD.....take my thyroid pill first thing, make coffee, clean kitchen while coffee makes, crank up the TV for Morning Joe, crank up the PC...check all my morning sites...sit on the patio with coffee and watch whatever critters are moving about, go back in and take the rest of my morning meds...etc etc.

Hmmm.... I have habits but can't say they're OCD or that anxiety would kick in if I did them in a different order - or not at all.

For instance, whichever of us gets up last makes the bed. I always get dressed before coming out of the bedroom, but that has more to do with years of working or taking kids to school than a compulsion. It's part of a morning routine like brushing my teeth. To me, PJs are only for sleeping or wearing when I'm seriously ill.

That's commendable. There's a difference between OCD and efficient use of time and motion. It sounds like you're a very well organized, efficient lady! :)

I check the doors, stove (even if I didn't use it all day which in the summer is very common) and make sure the fridge is properly closed every night. I check all 4 car doors when I go to work and get home. But not when I leave the car just to shop. I have manual doors. Not sure they make those anymore. I also make sure the top drawer in the bathroom is shut before I leave. Too much stuff in their my tabby would get into.

I think I developed some real OCD when in high school. I think it was related to the abuse but luckily it went away to the more minor things I do now. Because real OCD can ruin people's lives.

I need to get a hook or something for my keys. I usually put them by the door. And sometimes, even though I know they are there, I've gotten out of bed to be sure they are before I go to sleep.

Oh keys! Yes! Always on the coat hook with my bag. Have always done that since, many years ago, I left them in the front door all night!

Also, I hate being late which is, I think, a good thing except if I am travelling anywhere, I always turn up ridiculously early!
