What colors do you see?

I once had to make a map for a color blind colleague cause he couldn't see the difference in the map I made and they needed it to work with. You could put it on how they see it, so I changed all the colors. He was so happy with it. Then the other one sent a mail: We can't see the difference lol. I saved the old one. Gave em 2 versions.

Apparently this is the correct answer...

The image shows a viral optical illusion of a Vans Old Skool sneaker that appears to be different colors to different people.

  • The actual color of the shoe is pink with white laces and a white sidestripe.
  • Some people see the shoe as teal/blue and grey.
  • The difference in perception is due to how an individual's brain processes light receptors in the eye, similar to the "The Dress" illusion.
  • Theories suggest that people who see pink and white are more right-brain dominant (creative/intuitive), while those who see teal and grey are more left-brain dominant (analytical/practical).

Right and left brain dominance is a myth.

On the original photo i saw the main part of the shoe as light green, with a tint of occasional light green in parts. As for the laces, mostly light green with a partly bluish tint. Almost light turquoise.

Here's what AI says:
  • If your brain assumes the shoe is lit by warm indoor light, it subtracts yellow/red tones — making the teal-gray appear pinkish and the gray appear white.
  • If your brain assumes cool lighting or shadow, it preserves the teal-gray and gray tones — so you see teal and gray.

That description kind of makes sense to me, as my initial impression of the photo was one of being badly lit, with 'cool' lighting overall. Either that, or "blown out" by a camera flash, and then someone tried to correct the photo later in Photoshop or similar.

Alternatively, the original photo is in post # 16, (Pink & White), with an altered Photoshop of the same image in the OP. Perhaps designed to do nothing more than to get people talking about it on social media?

Although there may be a pink versus teal version somewhere, the actual color on my display is absolutely teal because that is what I measure the RGB display color as. And that one in the latter post is indeed pink. It is very easy to measure any screen color. Simply perform a Print Screen capture, then import the Clip Board into Adobe Photoshop and use the eyedropper tool. Or simply use one of many apps that will measure the 360 degree hue color angle.

To repeat. The color shown on at least my monitor shows TEAL. The below is a screen capture on my monitor in a Photoshop Windows 11 window that shows hue to be 176 degrees.
