Love the Beach Boys and Fifth Dimension but they never came to my neck of the woods .

You saw them in Ca ?

A similar thread was started in 2022. Here's part of what I replied in that one. I removed the names of those who I saw in plays.

Just so happens I made this list in Google Docs about a year ago when I was trying to remember everyone I saw. Some of these acts were in concert together so that's why I got to see so many. I went to the Apollo Theater in Harlem, N.Y. a few times in my late teens and early twenties.
Azymuth (twice)
Angie Bofill
Chico Hamilton
Chuck Jackson
Earth, Wind & Fire
George Benson
Gladys Knight
The Isley Brothers
James Brown
Jaheim
Joe Bataan
Joe Simon
Joe Tex
Kem
Lionel Hampton
Mandrill
Marion Meadows
Marvin Gaye
Maxwell
Maze f/ Frankie Beverly (3 times)
Natalie Cole

Otis Redding
Patti & The Blue Bells (who later became known as LaBelle)
Ramsey Lewis
Ruth Brown
The Spinners (twice)
Shirley Caesar
Stephanie Mills
Stevie Wonder (when he was Little Stevie Wonder)
Tito Puente
The Whispers

I've seen other artists who are well known in the region for their talents such as my dear friend Hunter Hayes of N.J. and Radam Schwartz, each several times. It is said that George Benson loved to go to The Crosswords where Radam headed Jazz Jam night just to "jam with Radam". :D 🎶🎶

Update: Here's someone I forgot...Jazz organist Charles Earland.

That is going back...

Doobie Brothers, Rick Wakeman, Lou Reed, Joe Cocker, Tom Waits, David Bowie... Maybe others that I have forgotten. All very Seventies stuff.

Joe Cocker was good but the most memorable part was his back up singers. They really were excellent. Tom Waits was brilliant.

I remember seeing Skyhooks at a 1975 New Year's Day concert by Sydney Harbour. You would have to be Australian and about my age to remember them. But they were good.

I saw a musical play a few months ago. Twice. Million Dollar Quartet. About Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. That was marvellous.

I just love listening to Symphony Orchestras. Especially those that play excerpts from the Ballet i.e. Romeo & Juliette, Spartacus, Swan Lake. I saw my son conducting an orchestra last year and this year he is coming to Sydney at Easter and will be conducting his orchestra playing, The Rite of Spring - Stravinsky, Ravel's - La Valse and Chausson - Poeme. It always brings tears to my eyes, and I feel so proud, like a rat with a gold tooth.

Not concerts as such but back in the sixties the town I was living in had a cinema that converted to a stage & they invited groups who were not yet really famous to perform. I saw, live in their early days, the Beatles, the Kinks, Rolling Stones, the Searchers, Ike & Tina Turner, a few others I can’t remember.
There was also a dance hall in town that had invited acts to perform the music for the dances, some I saw & danced to there were Moody Blues, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Procal Harem, the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, Dusty Springfield, several others.
Then when I was at university there was a dance every Thursday night with a live band, we had Freddie & the Dreamers, Herman’s Hermits & the Hollies amongst others. One of my friends was dating one of the Hollies. These were all before they became big stars & were just starting out, doing the venues locally in the north of England round Liverpool & Manchester.

That song hadn't been released yet when I saw him. One thing I do want to say is that Joe Simon was highly underrated. I was familiar with his songs before the concert but was astonished at how magnificent his voice was live!

Also I had been trying to figure out who I forgot. I also saw Jazz organist Charles Earland in person. That was a treat because I mostly played organ back then and had this album in my collection. I'm going to add him to the list posted above.

Blimey, a lot back on the day.
