What did the response to the pandemic do that surprised you? If anything?

I had an insider at the nursing home where 30 elderly folks supposedly died of Covid. (The beginning of Covid, USA.) 30 was a straight-up lie. 18 were in hospice with a death sentence well before Covid was here. Why lie? Why lie? That trust will never be restored for me and tens of millions of other reasonable folks. Nope.

I had to look that up.

In Nov 2021 the NYTimes said "Dining Sheds Saved N.Y.C. Could They Destroy It? The Lower East Side has turned into an all-night fraternity party, locals say, and small businesses are asking for help."

I take it they are destroying it.

Far too many people have substituted government for daddy and placed trust where trust was not deserved. We have been told many lies about Covid but there are still many who believe every single lie and harass other people who do not.

Why lie? To scare people into compliance. Some of the worst lies were told in NY and Michigan but there were some in my state too. And no, the trust will never be restored unless all the bureaucrats are cleaned out, fired where they should fired and prosecuted where prosecution is appropriate. It will never happen.
 
I was surprised by how many covid "experts" popped up all over the place so suddenly telling everyone what to do and I was surprised also by how many people listened and obeyed, but I suppose they were scared.

The vax was a coin-flip at the time. Now I’ve realized that there were lies on top of lies on top……We the People will be much much wiser moving forward I feel.

I agree we'll be more cautious and harder to fool going forward. I feel for any who were threatened/coerced into taking the jab like my SIL was. She never wanted it has developed health issues this year and wonders IF it could be the jab like we all do even if we don't say so to her face.
