What Do You Collect?

Because many keyboard players do. And I always like a good one (some are simply "chord shifts" I suppose")... and some are intriguing.
I guess you could say I "collect' them. I do record them and they have been the basis for songs on my album, singles and upcoming album. I've been told I play some pretty chords. I do have to give credit to Yamaha though, for their brilliant Clavinova rhythm sections which creates the rhythm arrangements (in essence, my "band") based on the chords I play.

I just watched an old Brit do a vlog about his collecting. He collects paperback books, mostly science fiction but some fantasy.

I was shocked at first, he says he rarely reads any of them. He just enjoys the cover art and "handling" the books. He showed some new acquisitions and some were stories I've loved since the 1970s when they came out.

It still strikes me as bizarre. Like Scrooge McDuck jumping into piles of gold in his vault instead of spending it to help people.

I collect clip on earrings. Some I've had for decades, some I haven't worn yet. A few belonged to my mother. I also collect turbans (well sort of) and knee socks. I've collected music in various forms for decades. 45's, LPs, tapes and CDs. More photos later.

Addendum: After a couple of replies I feel it's necessary to point out that the jewelry box also contains pins, necklaces and bracelets. :)

You’ve got great taste. Love those cute little turtles.

I used to collect beads, rabbits and fabric but it all got stolen. I only had one pair of diamond stud earring but the got stolen also.

Thank you Patty ❣️ Those turtles are pins that belonged to my birth mother who died when I was 11. I hope after I'm gone, my granddaughter will keep them.

I collect traditional pocket knives. The kind your grandfather might have carried.
While I haven't added to the collection for some time, I have somewhere between 150 and 200 pocket knifes. Never stopped to count.
Today's tote is this ebony handled, clip point, pen blade in 1095 steel from Great Eastern Cutlery.
A classic take on the traditional Australian Bunny Knife.
Question: What do you call a man with rabbits on his head? ... Warren !!!

Thats too bad. I would have loved to seen your collection!

@Kaila and @chic Thank you ❣️ And you're welcome, of course Kaila. Collecting for sentimental reasons is good.
@dilettante We have tons of brand new plastic grocery bags, though stores in N.J. are banned from using them. They are left over from when my son and DIL used to sell health products and oils.
@JBR "Diva, do you"collect" chord progressions?" Interesting question. Why do you ask?
i think the bag ban in NJ is stupid. i rarely threw one out without reusing it at least one more time.

love your jewelry collection! at one time, had a thought for Christmas tree decorations. all costume jewelry... clip-on earrings & pins. bracelets and necklaces strung together as garland. since covid, yard sales have kinda died out.

icollect PIG related stuff. have at least 4 pig items on my little patio...a copper watering can, a bird house.i have a whole box of Christmas PIG ornaments. problem is a lot are fragile and i have a curious cat that cannot keep her paws off stuff.

I have a collection of antique and vintage purses but don't collect them anymore. I want to get rid of most of them, so I'm looking into selling them at auction. Mine are boxed up in the attic, but I found photos of a few online that are in my collection.

1940s vintage Fre Mor 6-sided micro beaded box bag purse black carnival. The metal frame is embossed with a floral motif. This one belonged to my mother and is quite rare. I'm keeping it. Mine has a gold frame.

I have a pretty good stack of those books. They tend to build up, though I don't actually collect them. I do read them, and then pass them on.

The fossils were primarily from the South of France. The seashells were from St. Petersburg Beach, Florida and Venice, Florida where we used to live. There used to be so many back then. We also could find a lot of sand dollars and shark teeth.
Thanks for this very interesting reply, Rossana!:)
(In addition, I am sure that I have been to St. Pete Beach! Was it the one with lots of Pelicans?)
