What do you do when feeling threatened?

Then buy a shot-gun, load it with double 00 buck shot, and lie in wait for the son-of -a Bit**. When he shows up, kill him.

In a perfect world, maybe.

But then you're the one that would be in jail.

The world would have one less SOB, though.

Tough call.

Authorities don't come our way
it's a perk

digging new holes is tedious, but rather aerobic

Each situation needs to be assessed because they are all different. If there is a way out with words I will try to take it, if not then anything goes.

I will say that anyone would be much better off threatening me personally rather than someone I love. I'd be more apt to laugh a personal threat off, where if someone threatened a loved one I would probably react.

It is a good thing that these types of situations tend to diminish with age cause my body hurts too damn much afterward.

Having trained pretty much my entire life in martial arts, specifically for self-defense, the one thing that needs to be acknowledged is the process that one goes through (or should go through) when facing threatening situations.

The process itself is quite involved, but its essence is simple: you start off with non-physical methods (talking, use of body language, use of command voice), progress to defensive maneuvers only, and finally engage in full-on offensive techniques.

Each scenario you encounter will require a different response, and only through training and experience will you be able to deploy these methods correctly.

The alternative is what probably 95% of the population does: freeze, tremble in fear and give in to the aggressor.

As seniors we usually have a tough time using physical skills against a much younger opponent, so we should probably practice the earlier stages of defense - talking, etc.
