What do you do when you don’t feel like doing anything?

We're still "youngsters" as far as retirement goes. One of the true joys thus far is to be able to have one of those days where you just say "I don't feel like doing anything" and the world doesn't fall apart around you. What's the point of having the nice lanai if you don't just sit on it and enjoy the sunshine with an audiobook in your ears.

Another thing folks here do is open their garage door (we don't have porches), sit in the shade near the opening and watch the world go by. There's always somebody out walking a dog, or just walking, jogging or bicycling. You just sit and wave as they go by, or chat if they happen to stop. The guys across the street from us sometimes sit out like that for the entire day.

I have a laptop that doesn't get on the internet. I lay in bed and play Mahjong, Scrabble, Solitaire and Hidden Object Games. Then the cats cuddle up with me and I fall asleep.:)
Big Fish Games? They're the best. Please tell me you play Midnight Castle? I did and stopped and like this forum, have returend. Started a brand new game from scratch, named the avatar after one of the favorite characters of my stories. I could have e-mailed to have my old game restored but felt like starting over. I play that every day. Along with solitaire and some Match Three. Match Three games are endless fun when you really feel like doing nothing!

No, seriously, why do I sometimes wake up from a nap more tired and sleepier than when I laid down?
How does more sleep equal being even more tired?

I chide myself for still being a night owl at my age. I have the opposite of sundowning. I don't seem to have energy until the sun goes down and wind up staying up 'til 1:00 or 1:30 in the morning when pain gets me up at 5:30 or 6:00. Not good so I periodically make myself be "good" and go to bed at 11:00.

This does not work out well. I'm invariably more tired than when I give in to my night owl tendencies. Makes no sense. I do take that two hour nap after breakfast on my chaise lounge that I favor more than a recliner and weirdly sleep better in those two hours than I do all night but if I do nap at other times throughout the day because I don't get enough sleep (yes, I know that's bad) then same thing as you, it doesn't restore me but makes me feel worse.

Maybe I should give up on the bed and just sleep on the chaise lounge all night but something tells me the back wouldn't appreciate it.

I used to play Big Fish Games online. Don't anymore. All my Big Fish Games and other games are from disks from a long time ago. (might have one download) My game laptop is not online. I like the no fuss and large size of games from disks. No distractions from wanting to go check email or whatnot. Might go check those out though. Thanks.

Seriously, we need days off and sometimes whole weeks... 😆😆😆

However, we've got a quieter way of life that some don't seem to understand or grasps. A boy fell head over heels with daughter on Thursday night. Now, he's under the impression that daughter will talk to him on phone all weekend long.

Sorry, but it's a bit intense and she told him three times already that weekends are time off for her. He can't seem to take a hint. Bit annoying really, it takes time to know someone and get somewhere.

Honestly, she's upset and I don't blame her but at 29 years old he's acting like a kid. Phew! Bit much right?

Read or play a game with people over the interne.

But mostly reading, on what ever subject springs to mind at the time. There is so much out there to learn cross reference and to understand. When we have lost the will to gain knowledge, and perhaps more importantly the will to understand, we have in part lost the will to live.

Me too. But a few years ago I listened to a lecture about sleep and they said that there are systems in our bodies that change to prep for sleep (such as, our body temperature drops), and that different people have different timing for the changes, and that trying to sleep when your body hasn't naturally prepped causes worse sleep.

But all I want to do today is hang out in Pinterest or watch YouTube videos.
Unfortunately I also waste tons of time mindlessly watching YouTube -- tho there are a lot of things that are interesting, for a while I watched aviation plane crash investigations, then for a while criminal interrogations, so many weird topics out there that I'd never have thought about if not recommended by YouTube.

To whom it may concern...
Do you get at least 6-7 hours of rem sleep at night?
(rhetorical because it's none of my business
and I don't always follow my list...especially the 4pm deadline ☺️)

If not:
No eating or drinking water/alcohol/caffein, vitamins, or sweets etc after 4pm
No watching TV especially news and reading riveting books after 4pm
No nightlights or street lights (must be completely dark room, otherwise use blackout curtains)
No dirty linens or uncomfortable beds
No worries...write down tomorrow's to-dos and concerns & say your prayers before bedtime
No random bedtime...go to bed the same time every night
No sleeping on your stomach
No loud music
DO cough to clear lungs and do deep breathing until wheezing sounds stop

Basically "NO FUN" after 4pm ;)

That explains a lot. Especially why I sleep so soundly for those couple of hours after breakfast. I do have physical things like illness and chronic pain interferring with a good night's sleep.

So... basically bore yourself to sleep? This list is so not worth it.
