What do you do when you're bored ?

Today was a day that I had nothing to do . Don't get me wrong , I have a ton of stuff that could be done , but nothing Needed doing , so I'm taking advantage of it. I went to Walmart just to browse the grocery section , maybe pick up a few things . I met a friend there who was laughing at me because she said "you have nothing to do and you're grocery shopping ? I could think of 100 other fun things to do " . It got me thinking. What do other people do when they're bored ? Do you go somewhere ? Start a project ? Or - maybe you're just one of those people that are never bored !

(If Idle hands are the devil's workshop .... today I might be the boss of the whole place ! :p)

To combat boredom, I work in my yard. I have a few seasonal veggies to tend, and a small herb garden, but also various bulbs and other flowering plants, and a young orange tree. Also, I just like to mow the grass, pull weeds, and trim edges. And I water by hand...no sprinklers of any sort. There's always something to do out there, and I thoroughly enjoy it.

I enjoy just sitting out there looking at it.

I always seem to have something to do, household chores, shopping, meeting friends, walking, drawing, reading, logging in posting and playing the word games, plus my voluntary work so I don’t have time to get bored !

For the past 20 years when I was living in a remote cabin in Alaska boredom wasn't possible because there was always something that needed to be done just to survive.... but now here in civilization in Texas with all the modern conveniences there is quite a bit of idle time. One thing even in Alaska that I did a few times every day was operate my amateur radio station and talking with people from around the world filled many hours. Here I can't have any antennas and as I have found my radio interferes with some neighbors tv and computers. So all I have left is writing.... I started a blog many years ago and find now I have plenty of time to refine my writing, but like everything else in life I seem to be hitting mental blocks about what to write about.

So in answer to your question I guess I would say
that daily I try to cut through the mental fog
and find something of worth to write about.

Oh if I have only boring repetitive stuff that needs doing... and I don't want to be bothered with it...I just take a trip out to somewhere picturesque and take Landscape photos...I rarely go anywhere without my camera in my hand anyway....

I wasn't bored today...but I did go out for lunch with my o/h and some friends and the pub sits by a lake...so just as the sun was going down around 4pm..I took some photos... unfortunately my Camera was playing up, so I snapped a few on my phone..not great because I couldn't zoom in...but the point is I'm never bored if I can get out with my camera...

Here's a couple taken today just as the sun was starting to go down over the lake...

Probably put laundry into the washing machine: which I should have done a couple of days ago.

Then do a +word puzzle from the newspaper or start reading a new book.

Then see how my Dodgers are doing in the World Series.

I shop or pretend I shop by just looking. Get together with a friend sometimes, watch TV documentaries on Youtube or Netflix, surf the net. Cleaning doesn't relieve boredom but when it's all done, I feel great.

Cooking used to be a real joy for me.

My grandson says I should take up drawing again, that he likes my old stuff that's left in the closet, but I don't feel I can anymore.

I do all sorts of boring things when I'm bored, take a nap, putter around on the computer, shopping, a short drive, etc...

I need to get busy and list a few things on EBay, it's sort of like having a little aggravating part time job but it helps fill the time.

When I am bored I start a list of things that will need to be done soon. I'll write a shopping list, and look for gifts for upcoming Birthdays etc. Then all I have to hope for is that I can find the list when I need it.;)

I read a lot and always have stacks of books waiting to be read. Until I get cataract surgery, I'm mostly reading Kindle books, but there's a great selection. After watching the Netflix documentary about Joan Didion by her nephew Gregory Dunne, I've read her latest book about her daughter and I'm re-reading some of her other books.

There's always something great that's waiting to be read.

I enjoy baking, so I'm likely to wander into the kitchen and start a loaf of bread or a dessert any time of the day or night.

Mondays are a day to myself,I didn't have any plans today.I was able to get 2 out of my 3 daily walks in before it started to rain&the winds picked up.The rest of the week,I volunteer in the mornings.
I always find something to do,every day I read NYTimes,do their daily crossword puzzles, been doing them over 30yrs,usually can get Mon&Tues, they get harder as the week goes on. I also read USA Today MOn&Fri. Today I was reading my book Sue

I never have time to get bored! My life is so full of people and activities that time alone is relatively rare, and I usually enjoy the silence.

I get bored once in a while. I used to try to write a little, wrote a blog for a number of years. I've always been interrestered in photography but that was long ago when film cameras were still in use here in USA. Today I'm likely to get up and go somewhere. I'll visit the Salvation Army store or Good Will looking for an unusual cup I like not made in china. I generally always check their books. Sometime I get on Youtube and find some music to jam with. Sometime I sit at my desk and play my harmonicas. Or just sit out on the patio with a cup of tea or coffee, and think.

I get online and read forum posts and if I get really bored, I clean house. Sometimes I will take a walk. If I can, I will go browsing. I love to browse in the stores even though I don't purchase anything it's still enjoyable.
