What do you know about New York?

I had a cousin who ran a boarding house with her Mother in Law in Binghamton NY years go.. A beautiful spot. We would stop for lunch at a small luncheonette called Teds before visiting and staying for a day or two.. As a child my parents took me to many children's attractions in New York state as well. I remember Indian village, Frontier town and I think The North Pole was in New York state also.

I grew up on Long Island, moved to Jersey in 1967 and Florida in 1972. No desire to ever go back north.

Long Island is not the city, nor is it upstate.

Stayed in the city for a few days (A long time ago) and had the best baked potato at Toffinettis

that I ever put in my whole mouth ! Umm Umm GOOD !

On my one trip to the USA so far I met a great guy working as a waiter who came from New York, who told myself and my friends not to go to NY because the people there were so "hard nosed" (or words to that effect  ).

I needed to be reminded about "New York state" being a much larger entity (and I must admit I regularly get confused between "Washington state" and "Washington DC", though there is a few thousand miles between them I know  ).

We drove through rural parts of New York State years ago, on our way west from the New England States. It was high summer, and the smog was so bad at that time that we could barely see the cows in the pastures. I'm sure that our experience was not typical, and that the State must many beautiful areas. Sadly, that's all I ever got to see of that State.

My daughter and son-in-law have a vacation home in upstate NY, right on Lake Champlain. It's very beautiful, feels like New England. I love to visit there.
