My Granddaughter had 7 goldfish, and named them all Goldie. That way she would always be right. What names did you pick?

Etc.

I got my cat (he's now 4 years old) from a shelter two years ago. If they know the names of the animals when they come to the shelter...they KEEP those names. If not, the workers name them. My cat had been named Ervin. Very unusual, and I was thinking what could I change it to... then my family said "What's wrong with Ervin...that's unique..." So, I kept it and added to it: Ervin Arthur Zeddicus Wilson, the First! :)

My very first pet was a pretty maltese blue kitty with white feet. My mom and I had gone for a walk one night, and on the way home a cat came running out of the bushes at the side of the road, following us, and meowing loudly, the whole way back home.
Of course, she was skinny and hungry, and of course, we fed her dinner, and then kept her.
I was pretty young at the time, and loved the children's Little Golden Books, and one of my most favorite stories was called "Little Black Sambo", about an African boy who was chased by a tiger. He finally got the tiger to chase itself around a tree, and it went so fast, it turned into a pile of butter.
So, naturally, I named my new cat Little Black Sambo. Mom pointed out that the cat was not black, it didn't matter to me.
She then explained that this kitty was a girl, and of course, that didn't matter to me either.
So, Little Black Sambo she was. We had her for a long time, and she was a wonderful kitty.

My late poodle I named "Skippy". My dog now (a miniature Doberman Pinscher) came with his name "Dino".

He thinks he's a full grown dobie, but we don't mention it to him.

I have a 4 lb Pomeranian named Angel, and her groomer said she is anything but an Angel, and a cat named Misty. I stole her name to use here, and we look nothing alike. I'm a blonde and she has black hair. :)

Right now we have a 5 pound Pomeranian and we named her "Sheeba"

Prior to her, we had a cat we named "Ketsala"

Before that we had a Sheltie we named "Askum" (as in ask him)

We have Shorty,a Daschund, Cody,a Golden Retriever, Jezebel,my donkey. Jezebel started out her life as Sweet Evelyn,as that was the lady who imprinted her at birth, but she was such a naughty girl when I got her at 6 months old that I renamed her Jezebel. I have Catdog, because he`s a cat that thinks he`s a dog, Studley (he has a swagger that tells everyone that he`s "the man",Fatty (for obvious reasons) Peter, because we thought he was a female at birth, but later on discovered he had other equipment, and P.J. But my all time favorite was Lloyd,a beautiful Balinese (long haired Siamese) who got her name when a man who worked for AAA Insurance Co. gave hubby a helping hand on a difficult claim back when we had our body shop. Hubby was so grateful that he said "Next pet I get,I`m naming it after you!" Well, poor Lloyd came along shortly thereafter and she got the name. Somehow,it fit her though. We also have a ton of other kitties-most have names, but nothing too exciting :)

Wow thanks! What unique names! Sounds like a mixed up bunch. I can just imagine Little "Black"Sambo, "Big" Dino, Catdog & Lloyd, and Ninja sitting out in the waiting room.

She'll go far Meanderer :D We named 5 of our dogs the same after each of them died but the last 2 we adopted so they were already named. Trouble is they also get calledthe original name going back years. Talk about confusion !

I was taught never to name a pet .In case you have to eat it.:D:D:D
Of course we used to breed Rabbits, Chickens and such.
All my dogs over the years were called Gyp.
Christine is allergic to almost any kind of animal so we have never had a pet.

My pets had noble names.....William (King)...Henry (king) Alice (princess) Oliver (cromwell) Ivan (tsar) George (king).

When we had pets we called them by unusual names, our first cat was called Cosmas Indicopleutes,:D a later one Livingstone, yet another The Ayatollah, as it was unpleasant and was put down in the end.

Have 4 cats here, I know they are here cause I have to clean up that damn litter box everyday...

Their name....Mittens,Thunder,Rascal,Maggie.....that fifth cat,Oreo, went to heaven or hell some months ago.

We've had 2 dogs over the years. Our first was an English Springer Spaniel, that we named Bandit because he looked like he had a black patch over one eye.Our second dog was a Chocolate Labrador Retriever, that we named Cody. We had Bandit 10yrs before he passed and Cody 9yrs before he passed.I loved them so much and I doubt I could get another dog and go through that again. So now on occasion I watch my children's dogs. My son has 3 and my daughter 1. An English Bull dog,a Great Dane and 2 mixed breeds.

Here are the names of my current pets:

IZZY.... PETE..... MONROE.... MURPHY....HAROLD.....CARL....BELLE....MITZI....JACK

The first four are dogs... the rest are cats.

The names for this flock of cats and dogs was influenced by The Band. Ophelia, Caledonia, Levon...Chii was an anime cartoon. My daughter changes the rat's name all the time and the fishies rarely get names.

I like to use uncommon names so that only my pets will answer when called. My brother recently got a pair of puppies and named one of them Come-On and the other Come-'ere. I was given a kitten several years ago, and was told it was a female. I named her Misty because, though it's a fairly common name, she looked like a cloud of Mist. Four months later, Misty was snuggled on the couch with me, licking herself non-stop until it bugged me. I turned to her to tell her to stop, and noticed she was licking her male *******s! So, now he answers to Mister.

Our first dog, the one that my dad brought back from Japan at the end of WWII was named "King Nipponheimer The First", Nippy for short.

Our second dog was all legs when we got her as a pup, so she was "Spider".

My first dog as an adult was a Turkish dog named "Tamam Akidas" (or loosely translated as "that's all, folks"), Aki for short.

Next one was Cibuk (Turkish for "hurry up").

Last one I ever owned was "Marlo" because that was her name when we got her and the poor thing was already traumatized enough.

Something to bear in mind with fanciful names...easier shortened to names simple to call. The dogs names on official record are Ophelia and Caledonia...Sophie and Callie are what they hear when I want them in the house NOW.

My first calico cat was called Patches; after she went to Rainbow Heaven my daughter found
another calico cat for me called Nancy. Since that is also my daughter's name I renamed
the cat Callie, she is a tortoise shell calico - black, red & white and the love of my life.
