What do you miss and what would you change ?

Things I miss: kids being able to ride their bikes all over the place and run around in the woods and down at the creek without fear; actually knowing your neighbors (and their kinfolk as well); neighborhood weiner roasts and hayrides; manners and respect; being able to disagree with someone without losing their friendship.

Things I don't miss: everyone smoking; heating with a coal and wood stove and freezing in the mornings until the fire was built back up; girls and women being held to such a different standard.

Remember when we had just 3 or 4 choices of tv channels but there was always something good to watch on TV, and now some of us have hundreds and there's very few shows we enjoy as much as we did back in the day .?

Remember when it was always sunny when we were kids ( probably not) but it seemed that way...

So aside from people and animals.... What do you miss, and what would you change if you could ?
I remember one day it was raining on one side of the street but not the other. Back then, it boggled our minds.

When political correctness was unheard of. Im not saying that all pc is a bad thing but much of it is ludicrous and petty. Dont know if this pc ethos happens in the USA and Canada or in other countries and if it does what is the silliest aspect of political correctness that drives you up the wall?

The Good Thing about "pc" is that it is not acceptable anymore to use racial or sexual insults, etc. of this nature. I see nothing wrong in discouraging that. In fact, it's more than about time.

I miss the "excitement" that so many things brought. The excitement leading up to Christmas morning, the excitement of the end of school, the anticipation of getting new clothes for Easter.

Life was so exciting......woohoo, the State Fair is coming! Grandma and Grandpa are coming to visit; I wonder what they'll bring me! Yay, we've been good and Mom and Dad are taking us to the amusement park! Wow! The first snowfall of the year! Let's get out and build a snowfort!

I still do have a shred of an "excitement gene" left, but it's getting harder and harder to whip it into action, y'know? Of course, that may be because it's getting harder and harder to get out of bed......

I totally agree with you. Looking back over the decades some of the tv progs here were awful and racist and people thought it was funny and I didnt watch them so in this respect times have changed for the better.

Also people with mental illnesses were called horrid names but now their is genuine respect and caring especially in tbe mental health sector here for those who suffer.

Im trying to think of some silly instances of what we call here The PC Brigade and tgere are many
