What do you think about beauty pageants?

I've never liked any type of beauty pageants.
Once I was discussing a Miss America Pageant with a co-worker & he wanted to know why I didn't like them.
I said, "A bunch of men leering at a bunch of women in bathing suits & voting for the one they'd most want to sleep with."
He said I was "Negative," ROFLOL!!!
I have to admit I used to think the Miss World contest was a treat forty years ago.
I think it should be acknowledged too, whilst beauty pageants have waned, there are more than enough opportunities for "those with the correct assets" to put themselves on show, (as super models, or pop stars if they can hold a tune and entertain), so its not gone away completely.
The pageants described in the OP, I'd agree I always thought they were inappropriate.
One last thought on your quip, my guess would be most of us men who enjoyed adult beauty pageants "could have happily slept with most of the young women if pushed", but our sense of fairness or judgement of star quality meant we wanted the contest to award merit in some way. At the same time, in reality, many men shy away from dating the most beautiful women too.

Beauty is only skin deep - -
Unless you like blood & guts.
Besides that, some contests are rigged.
Take Miss Universe for example. All the
winners have been from Earth. That seems unfair.

Have noticed when promoting any social event such Miss America contest, Boxing Events, Concerts, all Media events it is all about the HYPE. As a consumer of the hype, I don't want to be the one who missed the Miss America Pageant, the concert, the game everyone will talk about. So, I, like everyone else, will watch the Miss America Pageant, the game or the event so as not to be different and have something to contribute to the conversation.

Who has bought into a bill of goods and to learn later it was not as you expected it to be? What happened, did you buy on impulse, did you think "if I don't act fast I'll lose the deal"? A Once in a lifetime deal?

I'm talking about the power of persuasion. Why do we buy into the hype?

So you are saying it is obvious I am ignorant? 😜
I didn't think it showed.
Yes. The word ignorant means to not know. Earlier I wrote out a long detailed reason why this is a horrible idea and I deleted it.
If you have to ask how toddlers and tiaras is different from other pageants ,then you are ignorant of the subject matter and I’m sorry if that offends you.

It is true, I do not know everything, it is a flaw of human nature not yet all-knowing
