What do you think about nothing being the same?

I enjoy change. It forces me out of my comfort zone, exercising “the little grey cells”, to quote Monsieur Poirot. While other children were immersed in the likes of Black Beauty, Old Yeller, etc, I grew up engrossed in the evils of the English countryside, circa 1930s, and the inimitable imagination of Dame Agatha Christie. According to some, that explains a great deal about my personality?? Cup of tea, anyone? ☕

I grew up loving Agatha Christie (and I still do)! LOVE Miss Marple and Monsieur Poirot.

I'm fine with most changes, but there is one change I really don't like, and it's a marketing trick, I think.

Making things that don't last.

I'd rather pay more for something that lasts. I hate shopping. Especially true of household appliances, toasters, microwaves, etc. It's probably good for the economy and keeping folks employed. If they made things that last, like the antique Singer Sewing machines, the manufacturers would soon go out of business. But I still hate it.

If anything can take you back, it certainly is music.

It seems every generation thought their old days were the best. Passing on those memories have always delighted me with the tales told by my relatives. The hardships and the wars were sad but interesting.

I'd like to recommend a delightful little book which everyone should enjoy: "The Good Old Days - They Were Terrible!" by Otto L. Bettmann.

With lots of wonderful black and white illustrations, the book points out what things were REALLY like for most people back at the turn of the century, and in the early part of the 20th century. No one would want to go back
there! As one example, he points out that a modern person couldn't even stand the smells of the average city street back then.

I am so happy that we are always evolving and changing. That is the nature of being human beings. I adopted Mr. Spock's philosophy many, many years ago. He stated, "Change is the essence of all progress." And that is so very true.
