What do you think about states legalizing marijuana?

Legalize everything. We have lost the war on drugs only giving rise and stability to crime. Regulate it preventing death doses and removing the subhuman trash earning billions of them. Don't argue morality as you step over the corpses of young people lying in the streets.
Legalizing drugs will only encourage subhuman trash to create new avenues for generating billions, i.e., human trafficking, blackmail, extortion, ransoms, "protection" businesses, murder-for-hire, etc. Look to western hemisphere countries that either don't highly regulate drugs or don't enforce existing laws, to see what our future might be.

And we'll likely be stepping over desperately addicted people lying in the streets.

At one time I was in favor of legalization. But, after seeing the effects of MJ on people over a lifetime of use, I have changed my mind. Today's MJ is not your mama's MJ of the 70's. I tried pot when I went to college in the late 70's. It smelled like plant. Now, pot smells like stinky, sweaty skunk. It is more concentrated and much stronger than it used to be. I tried it again not too long ago because i wanted to have first hand experience with what is out there now and couldn't believe how much different it was. And I didn't try very much.

My sister has used MJ most of her adult life. She is now in her 70's and can't string a sentence together to save her life. Her thoughts just flit from one thing to the other with no substance. It is heartbreaking to watch. Her kids saw her and her husband smoke it all during their childhood and now every one of them has problems with drugs.

No, I can't condone legalizing pot. It is not the innocent thing so many people want to claim it is. We don't need yet another drug messing up people's lives.

Great post, many thanks.

Yeh a person should be able to do what they want as long as it does not affect others wether it's the smoke stench or impaired driving. But do not conflate legalization with safe or being non addictive.

I know I'm now going to get all that anecdotal testimoney of how you used it for years with no affects. But having seen addiction in the family and workplace up close and personal it's not a Cheech and Chong movie

New York Gov Cuomo just signed papers legalizing it here. I am OK with it, but would probably not use it. Not for prudish reasons, just that when I used it in the past only effect it had was to give me a headache.

I got another petition in the mail a day or two ago to get it on the ballot.

The stupid rednecks who run this state (Ron DeSantis et al) have made it more difficult for the voters to get measures on the ballot. I think they increased the number of signatures required, shortened the length of time to collect them and made the deadline farther out from election day.

Now, you cannot just fill out the petition online like before as well. It must be a paper copy, mailed in via USPO.

I've got mine signed and ready to drop off at the PO.

Before it was legal here, medical marijuana was organized by health Canada and still is. Only difference now is you don’t have to get licences, prescriptions or permission to grow which is nice. One time my licence came 6 months late from not fault of my own.
