What do you think about what Will Smith did to Chris Rock?

I dun't think because I've been shielding myself from watching this constant item in tv headline news, only safe from psychological injury due to my remote MUTE button.

But without knowing details considering the uproar, suspect those with strong political correctness attitudes must be writhing in agony demanding capitol punishment.

To be honest, I’m tired of hearing about it. Will Smith totally over-reacted to a not very funny joke. His behavior will follow him for the rest of his life as well as negatively affect his career. No way to undo what has been done.

In the news, it stated Will Smith resigned from the Academy...

What?...before they expelled him?

For going against the Code of conduct?

As Elton John once said in an interview..."We're all just a little bit bonkers"!
(Talking all about "movie folks",)

Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in the wake of his on-stage assault of Chris Rock during last Sunday's 94th Oscars.

Smith, in a statement first obtained by Variety on Friday, called his actions during the ceremony 'shocking, painful and inexcusable,' adding that he would accept any additional consequences issued by the Academy's Board of Governors.

'The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home,' Smith said. 'I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.'

The actor also acknowledged that slapping Rock during the ceremony caused other award winners to be overshadowed.

'I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film,' Smith, 53, said.

He also shared how 'change takes time' and he is now 'committed to doing the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason.'

The Academy said it has accepted Smith's 'immediate resignation' and will 'continue to move forward' with its disciplinary proceedings against him for violations of the group's standards of conduct. Smith's resignation came two days after the organization met to initiate the disciplinary hearings.

Yep of course he's apologising now he realises that there's every chance he'll be dropped in the future... by producers and directors like a red hot coal .I don't believe he's sorry for attacking a comedian for doing his job...

He is worth over 300 million, so he does not need to work for income anyway.
he certainly needs to work if he wants to keep up his lifestyle..., he'll still have to pay tax on that money and his properties, and his big boys toys , and salaries for the people who work for him... so he'll need earnings to continue his hedonistic lifestyle

Did Sandra Bullock decide to temporarily leave Hollywood before or after the Oscars mess? She said her reason was to spend all her time with her children but was the Oscars also a trigger?

I think it was staged! No man would 'slap' another man. What they would do in anger is 'punch' a man!

Look at all the media they both are getting. It is well known that any publicity is good, even if it is bad publicity...

I think that it is funny that Will bitched slapped Chris for saying something bad about his woman. I think there are lots more comedians that need to be bitch slapped for what they say.
I am glad someone sees this unfortunate event the same as I do. I am rather surprised that so many see Will's action as wrong. I think we are in desperate need of higher standards regarding human dignity.

So true! None of these people are living in modest houses living a simple lifestyle. And they think they need all they have and want to do whatever it takes to keep that lifestyle.

Equally important to them is the constant adulation and attention demanded by their super-sized egos.
The scariest scenarios for most celebrities is not being recognized in public, becoming irrelevant, or hearing, "Didn't you used to be....?"
