What do you think of my cable TV bill?

Way back in the days when dinosaurs ruled the world (1970s), my cable TV bill was $14.78 (US). I thought that was highway robbery back then. Today, my phone/cableTV/internet bill was $210.00. I'm not sure what kind of internet capability is. I don't download movies, etc. My internet usage is pretty basic. Cable TV has about 80 or so channels. I don't have the option of switching cable provider. So, it's them or a totally different type of provider. Since everybody , around me, is in the same boat, it's hard to see if I'm getting just ripped off, or Royally getting ripped off.
Thanks.

I have Comcast. With what I pay for, included is 300 channels (use maybe 7 or 8). the fastest h.s. Internet at 100+ MB’s and phone. My cost is $264.00. Yes, I am considering my options. I don’t watch TV much, except for crime shows and sports. Just guessing, I would tell you that I watch TV maybe 2-3 hours per day.

Oh yeah, as of now, there are no other cable providers in my area.

I don't think that's too bad for having everything bundled. Mine is $107 but it's just cable and closer to 200 channels. My phone and internet are from another provider. As long as I keep everything that way I get cheaper internet. Don't know how long it's going to last though.

I have BT, Telephone, Internet and TV for £64 per month.

The internet is fibre to about 100 yards away and the TV
has over 200 channels, so not oo bad, when I see what you
all have to pay.

Mike.

Robbed! you better believe it. Now the pc sites and there 'rotten popup ads' Ahaaaa!
Was on site with short stories, read a page or so, then they rascals blurred the rest-"Read more, join our site.'

We get a bargain rate from Comcast in my building. I don't have a land line any more, so I pay only for cable TV with a wonderful new voice-operated remote, and high speed internet, about $92 with HBO included. I pay separately for Netflix.

With HBO, Showtime and NFL Ticket thru Directv it is high but the NFL Ticket I would pay any price for.

I’m not undermining you, but seriously speaking, the teams in the NFL depend on people that buy their channelI. I think that AT&T (Direct TV) paid the NFL an astounding $12 billion for an 8-year contract. The last that I read, AT&T was trying to get the NFL to give them a 1-year extension while they worked out a new deal, which means that if you keep that channel, you should expect an uptick in the price.

I also have a friend that has the same channel. I hate bothering him on Sundays because he tells everyone to stay away and that Sunday’s are his day to watch football. I once tried to visit him on a Sunday and he had, I believe, 8 games on all at one time. How do you keep track of what’s happening?

That is a deal. I have noticed that Comcast charges different prices in different locations. And, since you mentioned Netflix, I have that also, but to me, it’s not worth what they charge. Every movie that I want to watch is either not on Netflix or I get Buy or Rent. What’s with that?

Then, to make matters worse, Comcast advertises that for new subscribers they can get what’s called a Triple Play Package for like $100.00 a month with a 2-year contract. If they can do that for new subscribers, they should be doing it for their loyal subscribers who have been with them since forever.

Mine runs around $95 bucks a month for internet and a landline with unlimited long distance in the US. For TV I get a few channels with an indoor antennae and then there's $9 bucks a month for Netflix.

I also pay $35 a month for my flip phone but I get unlimited minutes and text anywhere in the 50 states for that. So $144 a month overall.

Now that I've added it up, it seems like a lot. Wish you hadn't asked.

Good Lord, you're all paying huge amounts in the USA.. as @Mike said above we pay a lot less here.. and unlike Mike I have over 600 channels including radio channels, and movie channels.. and have it along with a landline and mobile phone bundle...and our monthly charge is around £65...

Yikes. Spectrum Silver Pkg. 200 plus channels and high speed internet. $148 includes tax. We haven’t had a landline in 10 years. Waste of money for us. Cable guy said about 75% of customers have dropped landlines

We wouldn’t mind dropping the landline, but I need a fax. I don’t know how to get around that.

Is there any redundancy with having 600 channels?

We have a landline, because if there's a storm or "cane" or something that knocks out the power, we're still good to go. Had a lightening strike this spring, and when the guys were here fixing the A/C and the phones, the AT& T guy said " the phones are fried" and I said -"not this old landline, it will outlast us". Just then it rang and guess what - it was a Medicare "scammer". Go figure, even they can figure out what out lives us all , huh!

$73 a month for Dish cable wth remote voice, on-demand shows, free movies and hundreds of channels...which my oldest son pays for...my internet with Xfinity is $64 a month, and my other son pays for IPhone service....landline gone for years....

We've got huge medical bills too, Holly, as you know.
I know ... :(...here's an example of the difference.

Today I went to the dentist suffering from toothache ( the dentist is not free here like the doctors) .. she looked and said she couldn't find the reason that I'm suffering so much with that tooth, so she took an X-ray, and she felt that my gum was eroding and possibly a nerve was causing the pain.
She was very complimentary about the good condition of my teeth with almost entirely no plaque at all, but felt the only thing she could do was to apply 2 coats of resin bonding. ..so to ensure the area was super clean , she did a full hygiene clean, which meant numbing the area with 2 injections beforehand .

I was in the chair for an hour and a quarter, ..the dentist and the dental nurse full attention from both at all times .. the X-ray.. the injections.. the thorough clean..the 2 layer of resin bonding .. and because I was shaking so much ( I hate dentists) they gave me a glucose drink as well..

Cost?.. the grand total of £22.40 !!
