What Does Your Avatar Say About You?

An interesting question, I know many people pick their own portrait, that is a picture of themselves. But how about for everyone who has custom avatars? How did you decide on an image? Do you use multiple avatars for different sites? Someone made the Mr. Loveabull cartoon for me. I also use a photo of my boy Callie and an anime that is a lined alien face, kind of looks like a nightmare little old lady in an amusing way.

The Mr Bulldog of course represents my love of the breed. The old alien I use just to be goofy. How to fight a fear of aging? An exaggerated old crone. I use the dog photo for the FitBit site and the dog sites. Callie makes the best image for the FitBit site because he is ripped in a way I can only dream about. All his own teeth and shoulders like a linebacker. What's not to love? It's fun to have a few choices in how I present myself.

Something creepy regarding avatars. There was a site I dropped off of shortly after the same sex marriage decision was handed down. It was a writer's forum. You would like to think that as writers people might be somewhat open minded. But there was one character on that site who defied all boundaries of tolerance. His avatar? An adorable little girl in hat and flouncy skirt. Perhaps it was his daughter or grand daughter...horrible thought, maybe he just liked little girls:sour:

But on the day the decision was announced this clown came up with the most hideous post basically saying that they should throw all the homosexuals into the deep end of the ocean. He was completely serious and here was this hate speech under the cover of this adorable child. Obviously on line these people can just anonymously post what have you. But that was an particularly ugly one there.

My avatars say that I'm a nature lover. I only belong to two other forums, and my avatars are always scenic, photos of animals or my pets. Sometimes I'll use pictures I've taken of clouds, etc. Hopefully that character from your writer's forum didn't really 'like' little girls, and it was just his relative.

My avatar says nothing about me except that I like pretty pictures. Sometimes I put a picture of me on but I soon get bored with that, other times one of my grandfurkids..but mostly I just like pretty pics and I chop and change often..

My avatars show I get bored easily and change them often. One of my fav's is me peeking over a fence, like the neighbor on Tool Time. I use sunsets and clouds sometimes and other scenery photos because I love nature. The one I'm using right now is where I am sitting this minute typing to you. I never put on pics of my kids or grandkids but I do my dogs. I like to use pics of me or ones of my husband and I together but it's very very hard to get a decent photo of us. I do that because I enjoy seeing photos of the people I am having conversations with, but I do understand why some don't want their photos on the internet.

My avatar at this time is lotus flowers floating on water, to me representing a peaceful state of mind.

I don't have an avatar because I can't figure out how to do it. If I did have one, it would be a nice butterfly -- purple if I could find one.

Butterfly, click Settings on top right of the forum page, click on Edit Avatar on the left side of your settings page. Then select Use Custom. I always upload from my computer, so you would select Option 2 (upload from computer), then select Choose File, locate the photo on your computer and click on Save Changes to finish.

The photo you choose should not be too large, you can resize it if needed. I think the max size is 40k, jpg, png or gif.

I like to search Google Images https://www.google.com/imghp?gws_rd=ssl , just put purple butterfly in the search box. Click 'show more results' at the bottom of the page to see more. Click on the picture you like so see it larger, then right click it and save it to your computer. Then upload as described above.

Mines was a toss of the hand nothing particular in mind, just one of dozen or so crafting projects, but, also makes it easier to distinguish me from another without having to splatter my mug up there. :D

was the little girl carrying a quantum physics by any chance?

This led me to investigate my own! None! I shall remedy that, as soon as I "figger" out what might be appropriate: picture of some doddering old fart, handsome young man, my little cat, gone and dead now, so far only the young man is not a negative aspect. Gotta think. imp

I've just changed mine ,I like Disney characters , i have a Micky mouse sitting on my desk in the sewing room that a disabled client gave it to me as a gift so I'm reluctant to part with it (my friend has just been over to the U.S. She bought me a Minnie Mouse back from Disney land to match Micky Mouse) ..... Just changed from a Old photo of me to Micky and Minnie
