What exercise have you done today?

Today was a fabulous walk.
I wore my new 2 piece bathing suite. It doesn’t look like a bathing suite. It’s just really comfortable for warmer weather.

We walked 6 kilometres in total.
When we first parked we saw a group of vehicles with ATV trailers so got a bit worried.
Turns out ALL the ATVs were side by sides and the most polite people ever. They slowed right down for us.

The rules for dogs is that they need to be leashed at all times but we only leash them when we see others coming. It was a busy path today since it was a gorgeous, consistent 23 degree weather. We brought water for the dogs and ourselves. We wet them down so they aren’t as hot.

Everyone we met today was so incredibly friendly. We often meet couples that let us know that we don’t have to leash our dogs strictly for them. We let them know that we leash them for everyone we meet for everyone’s sake. We have a small little guy who seems to think he’s huge.

We saw a big rig out in the ocean today.

We took a photo while our dogs went in the water. They really love going in the water.
My husband found some type of clam.

It was a wonderful walk. We are supposed to get rain over the next few days so we soaked up the sun today.

Today was another great walk. The temperature was 20 degrees with a mixture of sun and cloud. Picture of wild flowers and unique cloud formation.

We found a new walking path and walked 5.6 kilometres. All the people we met were really friendly.

This trail had many bridges which made it interesting as did the rock formation; layers of flagstone

Exploring these trails has become a bit of an obsession. We’ve also realized that our dogs sore paw is more noticeable after she’s slept on it a while, which is no different from us. Cutting her walking wasn’t a logical solution IMG_4866.jpeg

So far I've walked 3 miles or more each morning for 34 days in a row.
The last few mornings I've warmed up with 6' on the treadmill prior to walking the 3 miles.
That's impressive!

I walked for about 1.5 miles today. I'm trying to start off slowly so I don't get discouraged, plus my right ankle and calf have been bothering me. I also struggle with depresson.

Next up is a bike ride. (I try to alternate; I have to rent a bike.) By the time I get to a more advanced fitness level the snow will probably be flying,. ha ha.

@PeppermintPatty, I love your photos! I'll have to remember to bring my phone with me next time I take a walk.

Thank you. I hope you enjoy taking photos of your walk as much as I do. I’d love to go biking but my dogs cry when I leave them and it makes me feel too guilty. Lol

Walking seems to be good for depression

It is indeed. I think any exercise helps with depression. I live in a studio apartment—a pretty nice one, but still a studio—so I try to get out and moving when I can, even if it's just a trip to the supermarket, or in inclement weather even walking the long hallways of my building.

I completely understand about feeling guilty about leaving dogs! I have a dog (he's in my profile pic), although he lives with my younger daughter and her boyfriend now because my place is too small. If he cried or pouted when I tried to go off for a bike ride, I'd choose walking every time, too.

I really need to engage in more regular exercise, though, for health reasons and to lose some weight. I could stand to drop at least 20 pounds, preferably more. You all are inspiring me as I read the posts.

Exercise DOES help with depression. Every kind. Your little dog is so cute. I lived in a bachelor apartment too for about 7 years and had a dwarf rabbit. I put a pen outside on the balcony and he was litter trained to use it.

Did you know that there are doggy bike trailers so you can travel with your favourite pooch? We bought one.

Anyway good luck in your weight loss journey.
I’m sure you’ll do fine.
