What exercise have you done today?

Gads I totally ADMIRE swimmers! IMHO swimming is likely a near perfect exercise. I can swim, but about 100 meters, let alone 1000 meters. Do you vary your strokes, or have a favorite stroke?

You are getting prematurely tired because you have not learned to breathe properly while swimming. My best advice to you is the same advice I give to older folks in your situation: forget about learning to breathe properly. Since you are not a competitive swimmer, get yourself a simple swim mask and a snorkel. Swim with that, and you’ll get all the air you need while getting a great workout in the pool, swimming much longer distances freestyle. (Note: If you are under thirty years old, I advise you to take swimming lessons and learn to breathe properly.)IMG_2041.JPG

eAre you serious? Of course you are! I have loved and adored Margaret Richard since the 1990s! She literally saved my life! Her & Howard Stern! I have VCR tapes of her shows for about 10 years, and her VCR tapes she made just for video. Still have my VCR.

What a pleasure to see her name, especially coming from you, Olivia.

I need to get back into the swimming. There's a pool not far away but it's an inconvenient bike ride and I don't drive. I also won't cycle after dark.

How about walking or buying an electric scooter that you can fold up and store in your locker at the pool? I use my Chinese electric cart.
It's a 30-minute walk, which I can't be bothered with. I did have an electric-assist bike on order but cancelled the order because I already have a very useful non-electric bicycle.

0830am: Floor stretch and flexibility for 30 min. (Started new routine Jan 1, after 5 days was sore and stiff this morning in places I've neglected).
11:30am: 1 hr yoga. Have done some yoga over the years, but never leaned into it, so to speak; @MaidMarian recommended Yoga Zone "Flexibility Tone" video(s). First time doing this instructor and he was a good, relaxation at end was nice bonus.
1:30 pm: 20 min HIT on my training bike to fast tempo music
3 pm: 1 hr Jazzersize "Throwback Friday" - almost couldn't finish this first try on this video.

Ate too heavily Saturday night, so needed to compensate a bit more than usual.

None and none yesterday either beyond a minor amount of walking inside my residence.

Over decades, have never regularly exercised daily nor had gym memberships but rather during seasons i am very physically active like now, do little on days between activities allowing my body to repair and recover.

Damn! After I thought I was done for the day I realized it was a dead lift day.

For the last 3 days I've been trying to salvage as much fruit as I can from the orange and grapefruit tree that I have in my yard. Wrestling with my neighbor's 24 foot extention ladder because my 16 footer is too short. I've managed to pick about 150 grapefruit and 300 oranges but there's still quite a bit left. They are just going to have to be victims of the freeze that's coming tonight. Risking life and limb on a 24 foot extention ladder is no place for a 77 year old dude that is lucky if he can make 8 seconds on that standing on one foot test. So this year I'm going to trim both those trees way back.

But I digress. After realizing I had not done my dead lifts I decided to do them anyway. By that time the temperature was down to 34 degrees with a wind chill of 24. That's damn cold for a dude like myself that was born and raised and lived most of my life in central Florida and now resides in LA (Lower Alabama). But I still loaded up the bar to 150 lbs and did 10 single lifts. This time at 3 minute intervals instead of my usual 4 because I wanted to get out of that cold carport of mine.

Back to 200 lbs even this morning. Guess the Pizza effect has disapated.

A chilly 2 mile walk on the nature trail. It was 31 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 21. Fortunately almost all of the trail is in the woods and the trees do a good job of blocking the wind. I know that some of you up there in the north country are laughing at me, but for someone that lived most of his life in Central Florida that is damn cold.

Hmmm, flat tire on truck, it's raining and my umbrella is broken....not gonna make it to 7am Yoga at the gym. A friend texted, said the Yoga teacher can't make it anyway, bad accident on the highway. 10am Yoga class cancelled, it's snowing heavily, plus that bad accident.
I'm all dressed and ready to go, guess I'll go get my tire fixed.
Edit. I did manage to get an hour on my treadmill and about 45 minutes of Taichi and Qigong.
