What have you bought recently?

A couple of day ago I spent $40 for a $180 dress. The colour didn’t suit me when I got in natural lighting. Returned it. Went to a home good store and found a duvet cover and two shams. It’s hard to find double size duvets. It was on clearance so only spent $40; saved $320. The clerk couldn’t believe the price.

I live in Canada and today I paid $1,484 for a pair of glasses. It was only a few years ago that my wife's cousin got a pair for $800 and it was the "talk of the town" that he had paid way, way too much.

The government is bringing immigrants "by the plane loads." A lot of them are sure going to be surprised when they find out what things cost in this country. This is really getting to be a country for the rich. A sort of "Hollywood" but instead of beautiful people, blood cold and piles of snow everywhere.
Blimey, and I paid £450 for my specs last March, and I thought I was paying a lot, and that was in the discount specs store..

If you lived here Jules you'd find it easier.. Our standard beds are Doubles.. we generally don't have the same array of sizes that the USA has.. so our off the peg sizes so to speak for beds, are single.. Double, & King... the vast majority of people have doubles because our rooms tend to be smaller..

I finally found a bath mat set that somewhat matches my bathroom's color scheme. They don't have the rubber backing that eventually flakes off and causes a mess after washing. It seems like a rubber like material is woven in though. I'll see how this works out. I can't leave them on the floor anyway because of our mischievous kitten.

Bought a rechargeable hand-vac today...mainly for the area around Pixel's "bathroom". I don't use clay litter anymore, I switched to wood pellets. I like them a lot! Pixel doesn't track them all over the floor, but he does pitch several out of the potty box fairly often...not worth digging out the vacuum cleaner for that.

The potty box itself is a snap to clean since I started using wood pellets, and it never stinks...well, except for a few minutes right after he deuces in it. So I only have to clean the box twice a month; just tap it on the floor once or twice and every bit of everything comes loose, and then you just empty it into a trash bag.

What does that bath mat say? I've been going a little crazy (admittedly a short trip) trying to figure it out.

That’s so different. It’s so rare to find a double/full here, except in a specialty store and even then they don’t carry many.

Come Clean?

I like cotton socks, but they're hard to find. I've pretty much given up on Amazon because of delivery restrictions. Other mail-order companies have cotton socks, but either the socks or the shipping is too expensive.

I hate cotton-acrylic blends, as the acrylic gives me the heebie-jeebies. Too much static maybe?

The other day I saw cotton-polyester blend socks, very cheap (6 pairs for CAD 9.00). I figured I'd give them a chance. They are actually not bad! Not as nice as cotton, but at least I don't feel like I'm biting aluminum foil all day.

I'm going to buy more tomorrow.
Talking about socks...I would like those 'bobby socks' of the 60's to come back. With the current fashion for trainers with skirts and dresses, they make the ideal combination.

This is my luxurious spend today... :D

I ordered a dozen pairs of knee socks (9 black, 3 navy) yesterday to get me through the next few winters. Mine are getting thin. Youth XL fit perfectly and are cheaper than ladies' sizes, probably because they sell better. Volume manufacturing = better prices.

It doesn't get cold enough here for long underwear under pants, and I don't like wearing full tights under pants. Knee socks keep my legs warm and stay up nicely.

I had to stop and get my head around this for a minute Star..lol.. because on first reading... I had visions of someone wearing long underwear , or tights under knickers and I was like :oops: then I remembered that Americans call trousers pants... whereas we call the underwear, pants ....

The other day I spent CAD 40 on junk food. This was scary to me, because if I did this once a week, that would really blow my budget.

Fortunately, I had a mild allergic reaction to the main item I bought. So I'm back to being frugal.

Not sure what I'll do with all the leftovers. I took them out of the original packaging already, so I can't give them to the food bank. Garbage I guess.

I guess what you call pants we call underpants, underwear or (for women) panties. Trousers usually refer to loose fitting dress pants rather than jeans or everyday pants.

Knickers generally refer to this popular early 20th century pant style, also embraced much later by Payne Stewart, a professional American golfer who died tragically in 1999 from a plane accident.
