What have you bought recently?

I went to the MindRight wellness shop today. Here's what I bought.

cordyceps.jpg Cordyceps is a genus of ascomycete fungi that includes about 600 worldwide species. Diverse variants of cordyceps have had more than 1,500 years of use in Chinese medicine. Most Cordyceps species are endoparasitoids, parasitic mainly on insects and other arthropods; a few are parasitic on other fungi. Wikipedia

Love your animal drawings, and specifically, the Labrador Retriever. They are our favourite breed (we had
2 black labs). Would enjoy seeing more of your sketches.
Well, here is a different Lab, different cat, and a bulldog, and one of John Wayne just for fun.

I have disposable paper liners for the Airfryer.. ..they're a real lifesaver when it comes to not having to clean the AF every time it's used.. I get 30 ..for about £1.28

Temu air fryer liners
I did ask my wife if she wanted some of those HD. The problem with washing up is my wife has arthritic hands and my legs are shot standing. Must be as I have given up fly-fishing, the love of my life, and the Merc convertible has not been out of the garage all summer and sex is now just a memory. Good grief, that is a man's three reasons for living finished,

At the moment, she is well happy with the silicone Airfryer £6 inserts, we had Scampi and Chips in them yesterday.

yes I too have arthritis in my hands so I know what it's like trying to grip things ... When I first started with the AF I got the silicone ones too.. but they had a ridge across the bottom, and I found them difficult to wash up...

I bought the Red one and the Green one.. the green as those of you have seen my office room will know will match with my decor... and the red one for taking out with me in the car...

A signed original watercolor by a well known artist. As I walked up to the art/frames section a worker was just bringing it out from the back. The price tag was dated today. I knew immediately what it was. Quickly verified the artist online. Purchased for $5.59 with my senior discount. I thought it was probably worth a couple hundred. When I got home, I looked up some of her other work for sale. Thousands! No joke. The least expensive piece was $2,100. I have no idea what it is actually worth, but will take it to someone who can tell me. I did take it out of the frame to check if it was a reproduction, and thankfully, it’s one-of-a-kind real. Goodwill is the best!

Honestly though, this isn’t about the money. It’s like a scavenger hunt. Trying to find the gem in the junk. And I am going to keep this one because I like it. It’s going on the wall.

Nothing yet, but wondering as we've got a COSTCO up on the M8 close to Glasgow. My question is: Is it worth getting membership card or Dan we shop once as guest?

Thanks!

What fun this retirement malarkey is (not.) Today was grocery provisions day and today I learned what a smartshop is. Nothing to do with the building more about the way we make a purchase. Entering the store my wife took a scanner from the rack, punched some sort gobble-de-gook code into it and then zapped the barcode of every purchase. At the end we went to the checkout marked: Smartshop, she pointed the scanner at a computer screen. The computer whirred and displayed the cost of our shopping, she inserted her card and we became considerably less well off. That done our receipt came whizzing out. The barcode on the receipt opened the exit barrier. How times have changed since I did the weekly shop.

No you can't shop as a guest..you need to get a membership... .. and it's not much.. about £28 for the year.. but it's really worth it especially if you have a big freezer.... and also some of their clothing, and towels etc.. are really good quality and outlast..so many high street stores..

I buy my rugs there. my tea-towels.. my capri pants.. even my winter jackets.....if you can do a big shop once every few months it will pay you back ( I know where that Costco in Glasgow is btw)

My red and green tall drinks cups arrived today they are great quality.. and the colours are exactly like they are on screen which is unusual for most things... The knife sharpener came today too... I've not had good experiences with knife sharpeners, so I wasn't holding out a lot of hope for this new one.. but the first blunt knife I sharpened on it, came out like a brand new blade.. so I'm very happy.. It really just depends on what you buy. One thing that I don’t like is the large quantities that you have to buy. I tried years ago when I was married and we had my teenage stepson so bought a lot of food. However, Winco was much cheaper so we didn’t renew the membership.

Now being alone I don’t want giant bags or bottles of anything. A friend has a membership and has offered to buy my body lotion, etc there but I can get it cheaper on Amazon. I rarely bought clothes there.

My son manages a Winco store. I'll pass along the vote.

Altho' we do have larger than usual supermarket items here in the UK at Costco..I don't believe the package sizes on most things are anywhere near the sizes they are in the USA.

I live alone as you know.. and I buy from Costco, sizes which are easily used up over a short period of time. For example the biggest sizes of fresh Chicken drumsticks they do are 20 or 24 in a pack.. which are easily bagged up into portions for freezing.. and last me about 6 weeks before I need to buy again.. same with dinner rolls.. 36 small fresh rolls in a pack.. easily portioned up and frozen.. and they defrost in just an hour as well. Swedish Meatballs .. a pack of 36 or 40..(1 kg)... bacon which is bought in what would be 2 regular supermarket packs.. and so on.. I find that the only thing that is too big for me to manage are double or triple packs of moisturisers etc.. by the time I've used a whole bottle which could be a year I want a different brand..

of course not everything is cheaper at Costco.. so you have to be a little bit careful ... and their household appliances are astonishingly expensive compared to our regular appliance stores..

Costco sizes here are roughly the same as you describe, HD. I was there today and bought the big package of toilet paper, dry quinoa, bagels, saltines, graham crackers (30% off sale), Beyond Burgers (30% off sale) and a big bag of fresh power greens.
Came to $69.53.

Costco membership is worthwhile because we have a big house and a garage with plenty of freezer and overflow pantry space. If we lived in small quarters with little storage, it wouldn't be.

As daughter and I have decided to remove unwanted stress into our lives. We've been taking things easy. Today, we needed to get Cat Litter.

At the Range we didn't find the 2 for £18 wood pellet 30litres bags we were hoping for. However, we found Corn-based Cat Litter. So we bought two to give it a try.

CoffeeBean loves it, which is a huge plus!

Then, we went to the charity shop and emptied our supplies for them. Got bargain 2 professional tennis rackets and 5 DVDs for a £5. Catching!

Got an extra lasagna white sauce and two packets of salami for tonight's individual mini-lasagna and a tiger bread to go with garlic butter. Dinner sorted.

Currently watching first DVD from the ones we got, Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields. While enjoying leftover pea and ham soup and chicken paste on toast.
