That sounds so nice, @hearlady! I prefer the traditional Halloween decorations like the ones you mentioned. I recall going to the local pop-up Spirit stores with my kids a few years ago and being horrified: zombie babies and animals, all sorts of things dripping blood—yuck! Definitely not to my taste. Some Halloween decorations. We have the three grands in mid October for a few days. I got an idea that we can put up the Halloween decos, something that DH and I usually do right before the day. I'll make some Halloween treats and we'll have a little party.
It occurred to me our decorations are tired and not likely to scare a mouse so I found some things at Dollar tree. Skeleton arms to put under my life size ghost made from a sheet forty years ago. He has two felt black eyes and a scary smile. Now he'll have bony arms.....like me!
LED skeleton heads to stick in the ground, rubber bats, lots of bats, a sign. I bought some window clings at Lowes the other day. One big set for us and one each for them to take home along with a bat of their own.
My three kids always loved Halloween, and we would have so much fun putting up decorations and getting the treats ready (we always filled those little paper sacks with an assortment of treats; it was so much fun!).
My older daughter is expecting twins in December and is already happily anticipating her kids' first Halloween, nearly a year later. I'm happy that she has happy memories of that time of year.
Enjoy the time with your grandchildren!
