What have you bought recently?

...so the UPS driver gets a cold bottle of water from me almost every day.
Cindy used to give the UPS guy baked goodies. Banana Bread, Cookies, Apple Fritters (sometimes he had to beat me to those!) and misc. other tasty treats. He never ever dropped a package on the porch and left without even knocking like most delivery people do now days...

We recently bought Two Acer Aspire 3 Laptops and two LG 27 Inch IPS Monitors.

V8 and paper towels for C$45. It sounds horrid, but isn’t really. 6 x$4 for the V8 and the monster size package of paper towels for ~$20. Throw in the taxes and that’s where my money goes. I doubt I‘ll be buying paper towels for another year. V8 definitely as my husband drinks it every day.
If you have a Costco Business Centre (not the regular Costco stores) within driving distance, you might want to check there to see if they have V8 in bulk. I buy cases of 24 large tins of Heinz tomato juice at the one near my place, and it's a lot cheaper than at the grocery srore. It's where restauranteurs shop for some of their supplies. They carry a lot of cool kitchen stuff as well. Most of it is used in a commercial kitchen though.

You may want to look into Amazon and auto ship.

And I hang out at the local restaurant supply. Not for meat/chicken though.

Today I am treating my lovely lady to a late Sunday lunch, the place is so popular I couldn't get a table before four pm. Some friends will be joining us so it will be quite a gathering. Not being able to do much because of her heart has had a negative effect on my lady. Getting her out and amongst friends will be a tonic. Click on this link and it will take you to The New Queen Country Inn where we will be dining. They have a singer there today to entertain us. It will cheer my wife up no end.

That link, by the way, is a gallery of photos, you can see the whole place and the setting that makes it so popular.

Have a great time. It sounds like the tonic Mrs HC needs to help her with her recovery. :)

the pub looks very similar to pubs around here, I like it... but you have an addition of a singer which is what's lacking in most of ours. Mrs HC will be bucked up with this I'm sure.. hope you had a lovely day

Looks lovely. Was it once a home, then converted into an Inn?

Thank you, both of you, it's very kind of you and much appreciated. The singer, Kelly Lorraine was in good form and very popular. The two of us seem to attract much attention, being asked: "Can I take a photo of you both?" Nobody dresses up to dine out these days whereas we do. It was good though, people were genuine and conversation with friendly strangers is how friendships are born.

We arrived an hour early, deliberately, just to enjoy the singer and to watch those who get up and dance. Looking at my wife's face as she watched the dancers, bless her, in her head she was on that dance floor. We will get there. Our meal was perfect, Sunday lunch at it's best and our company agreed, we must do it again, soon.

This morning, there was a postscript to yesterday's enjoyable day out. When I booked the table I had to leave a phone number, I gave them my mobile number. That postscript was a text from someone at The New Queen complimenting our appearance yesterday, adding that they had received messages about the, well dressed old couple.
I passed the message on to Her Ladyship, suggesting that they were angling for us to book up again. "Cynic!" was all she said.

why so many ?..are you a gamer ?:)
One for me, one for my son. These aren't exactly gaming computers, though they will run the two games I actually play. I have Euro Truck Simulator 2, with 4 map addons that I was given for being a Support Forum Moderator for awhile. Those added maps have come in handy now that my Windows 7 PC is in pieces. That was when I had my favorite version installed that had a free map mod called ProMods and between the SCS Software addon maps for ETS2 1.34 and ProMods 2.33 I had all of Europe except for Spain.

But none of that is compatible with Windows 10 or 11. And SCS ruined the one version I can install. They revamped the lighting system, and made so that for about 18 hours of the game day I can't see hardly anything. That's really sad as ETS2 is one of the few games I have played in the last 20 plus years that I really like. Here's my truck and the Company Yard...

I actually used to spend more time playing around with the game as opposed to driving the truck. I changed the game a lot with mods.

The other game is called Raid: Shadow Legends, and it's one of those Free to Play games on Google Play. It kept me moderately sane when I was in the hospital. I couldn't see 99% of the games I could get on my phone because the screen is far too small. Then when I got out of the hospital I discovered I could play it on my laptop and was much bigger. Later I plugged the laptop into a monitor, and it was huge. It's got a lot of advertising, but I just ignore it...

Impulse buy of inexpensive curtains that seemed like a smart buy but soon realized you get what you pay for.
Now I have to be a returner. I hate returning. 😕
I'm the same I hate returning things . I know people who do it all the time.. there's people on youtube who buy a ton of clothes every week to showcase on YT.. then return the lot....
I've only ever returned 3 or 4 things in my whole life.. and one was a £600 camera.. I deliberately bought it from a store that supposedly prides itself on it's return service... so if you're not satisfied then it's not a problem... except when i took the camera back, you would have thought I'd stolen it by the questions and the black looks.. so never again...

I bought this silicone spill stopper.. it's got fabulous reviews.. stops any pot from boiling over...I've bought one to test out cost me just £4.00... Prices vary greatly so do shop around on the internet for the best price...

I made my own boil over stopper with an aluminum pie plate and a clip-on clothes pin for a handle. The boil just lifts it.

That's why I like Costco. With a few exceptions such as items that now have a 90 day max return window, like computers, TV's some appliances, etc., their overall return policy is good for 5 - 10 years. When I take something back, the only problem I've ever had in 24 years is based on how long the line is...

I bought a computer monitor back in the CRT days and before the 90 day thing came along for almost $500, two years later it bit the dust. So I went back to Costco with intentions of buying another one. (After all, what's a computer geek to do with no monitor???) So Cindy and I stopped at the food court for some of their famous $1.50 boiled hot dogs. As we were sitting there talking about how I hoped a new monitor wasn't going drain the bank, and I said something about how I wished the one I had didn't die.

This lady sitting next to us spoke up and asked me if I bought the dead monitor there, I said yes and she said those golden Save me $500 words "Bring it back." So I did, and I got two new LED monitors and had enough of the refund left to take the kids to the movies, and Cindy and I went to Marcelli's, our favorite Italian restaurant.
