What have you bought recently?

As we have some trips planned for the Spring/early Summer I decided to check out the final reductions on a brand that I liked and I ordered a couple of tops which I was tempted to buy when they were full price! Glad I waited :)

I mainly use the microwave for steaming so I bought a couple of bigger bowls for steaming fish, noodles and vegetables.
Nothing like a bargain.

If your optician is of a similar ilk to ours, you will have had your wealth seriously damaged. When my wife told me yesterday that she needs new distance specs, I said okay, get it sorted. Then she told me the price. I had to sit down!
oh yes they are very expensive... and because I have a high prescription I have to pay quite a lot extra to have the lenses thinned... usually cost me arund £400 ..but lately I've been buying online, and saving qute a substantial amount of money

@hollydolly I really, really like that chair. I'll take two, please.

I didn't spend any real money yesterday but bought three more sacks of lawn soil and another sack of fescue seed using gift cards. There's still $18 left on one of the cards.

Then...as a thanks to DD for hauling me around from one garden center to the other to get the soil and seeds and to rent then return a lawn roller, I paid for drive-thru lunch for her and her DGD. Holy :poop:! Drive-thru lunch for $28? It's not like they got anything unusual, just burgers and fries.

If the lord's willing and the creeks don't rise, no money will leave my pocketbook today.

Well, scratch the above. We're going to Aldi today to visit the Aisle of Shame. Maybe there won't be anything with my name on it, but there's no guarantee...stand by.

@Georgiagranny, I can relate to your tale of fast food lunch prices. About a year ago, our older GKs (9 & 12) were here for the day and requested a FF lunch to eat while we watched a movie. DH zipped over to pick up the order while they decided on the movie.

It'd been years since I'd bought FF so when he came home I asked what it cost and nearly fainted when I heard the outrageous price for crap food. Like $70 for the three of them. Granted, they had the full slate of burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes, but even so. (I'd fixed myself a salad.)

Besides replenishing food and household goods, I haven't bought anything of note in 2025. Was feeling pretty good about that until we got the $800 bill for roof repair. Remember those 80-100 mph winds that whipped the wildfires into a frenzy? Yeah, well they tore a whole section of shingles off. No idea where they landed, but it wasn't in our back yard or our neighbor's. o_O

A few days of showers are supposed to start this evening, so the roof got fixed just in time.

We've been using this small roofing company for over 30 years. Honest company, good workers, and they come immediately when we call because we're long-standing customers.

Just bought a dryer. Hubby did some research and we then went to Lowe’s. They had a special plus offered $100 off to get their credit card. When the dryer arrived it had a scratch on the side that would not be visible as that side would be next to the washer— another $130+ off the price. My last one was a Maytag and I had it for 30+ years— that’s a bargain too.
That said I usually buy online.
We have had nightmares too. It seems like when we have work done on the house it’s shoddy half the time. The other half has been great work though. 😊

Nothing fancy here. Picked up a prescription refill then bought a load of groceries. Chicken drumsticks on sale, now I have quite a few in the freezer. Found some good Fuji apples, local but still fresh and crisp with a hint of yellow sweet cherry flavor to them.

My NuWave oven "dying" was a blessing in disguise. I ordered this Cosori 11 function air fryer-toaster from Amazon for what I think was a good price. It was $128 including tax and I'll get 5% cashback using my Amazon Store card. It was less expensive than similar NuWave products, which were in the $169 - $189 range. I got the compact size so it fits in the same spot I had the NuWave. It's so much more convenient to use.

I also ordered a pack of 3 Native stick deodorants from Ebay. It's an awesome product. I paid less for 3 on Ebay than I would have paid for 2 on Amazon. My son recognized it as a great price, so he bought 3 as well. There was only 1 set left after we placed our order. I also bought the H & R Block Tax program on Amazon for $29.99 + tax, which is $20 less than it was two weeks ago. I'm happy with my savings this week. 🤑

where do you buy your chicken ?... chicken here isn't cheap unless it's bought in Aldi.. and honestly Aldi is not my first chhoice for fresh meat....

I get mine from Costco... a tray of 20 drumsticks costs £5.00

I spent almost $23 for a plastic milk carton holder from Amazon. Could not believe how expensive it was, but I like to get the long dated milk during the winter so I don't have to worry about driving to the store in bad weather, and that type of milk only comes in cartons (at my store).

Check Dollar Tree. They carry pasteurized cow, oat and almond milk.
