What have you bought recently?

I pretty much live in gym clothes, so I only buy "real" clothes if I absolutely need them. My waist size increased by 1" (old age I'm sure) so I bought 3 pairs of shorts at Banana Republic. Then I went wild, decided to update my wardrobe for summer and bought 3 short-sleeve shirts from Untuckit. They were 25% off for Memorial Day weekend. That's my "big spend" for the month.

Just bought a firepit cover... The one I have survived 2 winters and I threw it away this morning.. so I immediately came in and looked on Amazon for a new one which is where I got the last one. Then I had a 💡moment.. and remembered Temu.. and sure enough Temu are selling the same one that Amazon wants £15 for ... for £4.99. ! ..so I've just ordered that. I can wait for the few extra days that it takes to arrive over Amazon.. and it's free shipping too..

Renewed our tv/internet plan for another 2 years. She didn’t try to upsell us on anything. When I asked about the next faster speed, she said it was only $10 more. You don’t know about these things unless you ask. The online price said $30 or $40 more. Now I’m hoping we didn’t miss out on great tv packages, not that we can watch what we have now.

I bought double sided shower curtain hooks like ones I already have. One broke and the new shower curtain liner has an extra hole, so the way the shower curtain hangs is not esthetically pleasing for my OCD. :) I also bought another of the same heavy duty shower curtain liner and a soft sided cat carrier that can be hooked on to my luggage. Deja already has a very nice hard one but I may try using the soft sided one to take her for walks and it will come in handy if I have an emergency where I have to leave home carrying my tote (large purse), emergency suitcase and her. I also decided to try these sheer knee highs because the company that makes the ones I've bought for decades went out of business due to the pandemic.

Did you go into the office or call? My bundle package is expensive. If I ever move, I want to talk to them about a reduction.

I spent. $100 for two garden center gift cards at $50 each. Why gift cards? Because when I get them from Kroger, there are double fuel points.

They didn't all get used today. A shasta daisy and a big pot of pink, white and purple angelonia at one center and two plumbago plants, a big pot of purple million bells petunias and lavender verbena from the clearance section at the other center. The only problem with the one from the clearance section was that it wanted water. Left that one in the pot and put it out in the garden in a bare spot and planted the angelonia. The plumbago and daisy can wait until tomorrow.

One can never have too many flowers.

There's still a balance left on both cards. Yippee.

They must love it when they see you coming!! :giggle:

I worked for over three hours in the yard today and figured that I deserved a treat for my labor so I just returned from the liquor store with a bottle of vino that I have full intentions of enjoying while sitting on the patio this evening.......since mama made me a big jar of homemade kimchi this morning if she asks me real nice I might even share my vino with her. :)

Today I purchased some wave petunias, some flowering vines and some white lobelia. I dragged my big terra cotta pots out of the shed and filled one of them with flowers.
Only one of my potted clematis survived winter but it’s growing really well right now.

Does anyone have any hedge plant ideas?
. I don’t want anything too high and prefer an evergreen variety like boxwood or some type of cedar or juniper. I’m looking for a short variety that I can trim at about 5 feet high 2 1/2 to 4 feet wide.

We have a good nursery close by that I really like. I should ask them but if anyone had ideas, I’m all ears. Lol

We have a lot of Nandina's that we grow around here that fit your description. I have a couple in my backyard. They grow so easily and fast. Easy to trim. Zones 6-9

I'm unable to post a pic.

This is a very good idea. I’ve never heard of Nandinas and zones 6 to 9 is in my zoning range. I am trying to stray away from red however winter time cranberry red, scarlet or pink leaves with white fluffy snow seems somewhat magical.

I have something positive to focus on.
Thank you for the suggestion. That’s a very good one.IMG_9755.jpeg
I think I like the foliage on this one the most. The foliage is nice and shiny looking. A bit of holly grown in between would not only look festive for the holidays but will help feed the birds in the winter time.

@PeppermintPatty .......there's much more green to be seen than what you're being shown.

I keep mine at about 5' tall and 2' wide.
I’m perfectly ok with that. The size is perfect. I’ll probably make them a tad wider. Maybe 3.’ I don’t want to take the thread too off track but I will look for these tomorrow at the Garden Centre.
Thanks again. They are very pretty.

Rosemary is easy to grow, to propagate from cuttings and can form a nice green hedge.
