What have you bought recently?

I bought a new black-meshed office chair online from BestBuy{have an acct} on Mon
It was suppose to arrive yesterday but didn't,wasn't happy. I got email this morning around 6 saying there was a delay it would arrive sometime today, got it at 10am
I'm not good with putting things together, bending down with arthritis in both knees isn't helpful
I called a resident/friend who lives in the other building ,tomorrow morning around 10 he's coming over to help me.
I completely understand what you mean Sue..about the kneeling.

I'm the same.. I walk fine, but kneeling is absolute agony... it feels like kneeling on broken glass because of the OA in my knees..

It does mean I'm restricted with regard to assembling things like small pieces of furniture. I'm pleased you have a friend who can do it for you.. (y)

@Leann , I got a pair from Temu...very cheap... pennies (87p)... and then I bought a different pair from Amazon.. again cheap..not much more than Temu, to test the difference ...and tbh..the Temu are better quality. The Amazon altho'good tend to shed the fluff from the gloves.. so perhaps they need washing first.

Very handy ( excuse the pun)...just put the gloves on if you have a tricky area to dust that can't be reached easily with a normal duster... and they work like magic . Better to use both gloves at the same time...
Thanks so much. I'm going to order some from Temu.

A Romper dress for my grand daughter. It is a long one piece dress. The front of the skirt is open and it has shorts underneath. Took me a while to find one that looked appropriate for a six year old.
The ones on Amazon looked like, well, I'm not trying to sell her. Let's put it that way.
Why I bought one at all? Because she asked me for one. 👵

3 pair(s?) of glasses, which I picked up today. The distance and sunglasses are okay, but
I'm having difficulty with the computer glasses. They aren't as clear as they should be.
I'll give myself 2-3 days to adjust to them before I call my optometrist for adjustment.

Based on my bank balance decreasing, I obviously bought some things, just can’t remember all of them.

Areds2 for macular degeneration, based on advice from my optometrist. They were on sale at Costco so that was a decent buy.

A rail for the steps from the garage to the house. We bought one and are pleased with it so got another for the other side.

Three dresses at a thrift shop. If these don’t work out, I haven’t invested much. I’ve looked at every shop in town with absolutely no success. Mostly it’s because I need a petite and most shops don’t carry my size.

My pants from Eileen Fisher in the US finally arrived. I have the same pair in another colour but wanted black. If I hadn’t the initial pair, I wouldn’t have tried to order them as this was quite a bit to spend. I’ve ordered her brand from the Bay (Canadian) and things didn’t fit. Good thing I could return them.

I replaced my white security bar.. after I managed to break it using it to try and prise up a shed door... got a black one this time ( stock photo)

Interesting. I’ve never seen that kind of security bar. Will check it out.
Oh I've used them for many years. They work brilliantly... one end is forked and slips below the door handle.. ( they're extendable).. and the bottom rests on the floor... and blocks any attempt of the door being open inwards

When I go to the thrift store I always check out the section with crystal glasses. There‘re are just a couple that I’m looking to replace. Today I found a pedestal bowl for fruit. I definitely don’t need it, yet for $10 I couldn’t not buy it and have regrets later.

I bought a bigger iPad. I always say I will stop buying things but that doesn't last long. Got $200.00 for my old one and PayPal lets me pay 6-month payments interest free. I really like it; the bigger screen makes it more practical to use. May buy a keyboard for it soon. Those are really expensive too.
what version is the Ipad up to now ?..I still have an Ipad 2...

Bought a garden incinerator.. and I've just set fire in the last hour to a whole ton of old bills, and contract etc... that I've had for years in file boxes... ooooh the joy of seeing it all burn.....and so quickly too...

DD had to pick up a prescription so I went along. Then we stopped at the Quik Trip to buy a mega millions ticket. So I spent money. $6 for mega millions tickets, one for tomorrow night and one for Tuesday night.

Sure. I'll share.

Okay, folks. Buckle up!

DD had to go to the credit union so while we were there, I bought some cash because. It's always handy to have a few bucks in my Hovel Hidey Holes and in my wallet.

Credit union is directly across the road from a small shopping center where one of my favorite "everything" stores (Kirkland) is located, and we could see it from where we were parked. "Hey! DD! Yanno where we haven't been since forever?"

I mean, we were just across the road, right? So we had to drop in, right? There's always something in that store with my name on it. Today it was a 3.5 ft x 3.5 ft acrylic painting of trees. Trees. They aren't green trees. They're shades of beige/brown/gray with some white thrown in here and there. And waaay in the background at the bottom there's a city skyline in greys and almost-but-not-quite blues.

It "was" in the store, but now it's in my sitting room. Not hung yet. I'm gonna need to do some decluttering and rearranging before hanging it.

It was expensive, too, for just a plain old acrylic that was probably mass-produced (Kirkland only had one in the store, though). It was displayed way up high where we couldn't see the price so the clerk got a step ladder to fetch it down.

After she peeled me off the floor over the marked price, she assured me that everdamnthang in the store was marked down, on sale and marked down again, and she'd scan it.

I left with the painting and a mere $60 lighter in the pocketbook. Woohoo!

But, yanno, sometimes ya just gotta throw caution to the winds and piddle away money on something neither necessary nor practical.

On to the next adventure, the garden center. I was right. Labor Day weekend. Plants weren't 3/$10 this year. They were 2/$10. Inflation. Fine. We waltzed right past those and to the back of the center to see what Clarence had to offer.

For $22 and change, a plant called Tricolor Ginger, another called Flax Lily, both for the pretty foliage contrast, and because they might survive winter here; also got a golden coneflower in full bloom, two garden phlox (one pale pink and one bright pink), and two enormous yellow strawflower plants. The strawflowers were marked at $5, discounted from $30!

The garden phlox and coneflower plants are definitely perennials; the strawflowers might or might not be, depending on how harsh our winter is this year.

Then I had a sinking spell and had to sit while DD checked out. The checkout clerk knows us...of course she does!...and noticed my "spell" so handed me a bottle of water from her cooler.

Home. It's cool today so maybe later this afternoon one or more of the new plants will find a garden home. Gotta rest first.

Best news of all? There's $27 left on my garden center gift card! Woohoo and stuff.

It'll be a while before I spend money again.

it's simply a galvanised bin...with a chimney and air holes..

very cheap to bu and works better than most other versions..
Very interesting, Holly! And an intriguing way to solve that problem of accumulating personal paper stuff.

Curious if your area requires that you get a permit, to light that, in your garden:unsure:

no, we don't need any permits.. We're expected to act in a neighbourly manner, and not light it if the neighbours are in the garden eating.. or they have washing on the line.. but otherwise no , no permissions needed..

All "personal" papers (bills, receipts, old tax returns) are shredded (not ripped) - the shreds are emptied into the "green bin" (compostables) for weekly yard waste pick up.
