What have you bought recently?

I took my daughter to an Amish country hardware store today called Lehmans. It was once a true Amish store but has slowly evolved more into a tourist shopping destination, still a fun day. I surprised her and paid for all her goodies, total bill was $347, I think the $47 covered my stuff. I was happy to see her happy, she's such a great kid.

I’m still sitting here fuming before I write a complaint re my purchase yesterday. On Thursday’s the chain drug store has a 20% senior discount for regular priced goods. On the last Thursday of the month if you spend $50+, you also get a $10 coupon. I waited until yesterday to buy what I needed. My two items after the discount came to $130 and after I’d paid I mentioned that I didn’t get my coupon. ”Sorry - we ran out.” They used to add it to your loyalty credits.

Guess who’s no longer going to be loyal to them.

I‘ll do my store survey later, when I’m no longer too grumpy thinking about it.

edit - The two items were Elizabeth Arden products.

I bought a TENS unit this week because I've been going to Physical Therapy appointments to improve my hip and back, and I just love the buzzy tappy TENS stuff they do at the end of the appointment. I didn't realize a person could buy these. The pads are ridiculously sticky, I understand now why the kid at the PT place has such a time peeling them off. Now I realize he's really good at getting them unstuck.

(Not me in the picture, ha)

It worked! The colors are crappy, but it worked!

@hollydolly It worked!

The picture of my new artwork doesn't come close to doing it justice. It's so much prettier in real life hanging on the wall. Drat.

When I was first diagnosed with lower lumbar issues.. I was being treated on the NHS.. and was sent to physio.. well, let me tell you, newly trained junior physiotherapists .. with a 15 minute appointment every 3 months is doing nothing to relieve the pain in my back.. so they offered to lend me a Tens Machine. This was probably close to 20 years ago now... and at that time they could only be used by hospitals..

I took it home full of hope.. but it made no difference to my pain in fact if anything it made it worse.....so I had to give it back..

Some people get relief from tens.. but many don't. Good luck I hope you do...(y)

That's terrible, the way they handled that!!!!!
Definitely do complain, in multiple ways, regarding that!
Gosh, it's ridiculous that they'd think that is okay.

I've been buying in bulk. I bought 1,000 medium sized non latex gloves from Amazon. I saved about $33 in today's prices, maybe even more, over buying individual boxes of 100. The cost had gone up by $3 a box over last year's price and is subject to go even higher. Even Costco's gloves were much higher than before. I use two to three gloves on a daily basis, so it's worth it.

I also bought from Amazon a box of 220 clear 8 gallon trash bags, 4 ml 9 x 12 bags that I use when cleaning Deja's litter box and 16 packs of Kleenex tissues, after being unable to find the tissue packets at a couple of Dollar Trees. Just ordered a case of Crunch & Munch from Dollar Tree. That's my latest guilty pleasure. And I otherwise don't like popcorn. Go figure!

Me too. We had a car accident less than 2 weeks ago and our poor old Toyota Corolla, vintage 2007, was a write off. We bought the old one new but decided this time to get a late model car instead. I went to the dealer with our essential and desirable features, and guess what? We now have a 2016 Toyota Corolla. Seems Toyotas are ideal for us. We love it already.
So sorry that happened to you Warrigal. Are the two of you alright? I was a Toyota person too.

Yes, Thank you, Diva. We were well looked after by insurance and the new second hand car is still serving us well. I had the foresight to select one with a large boot space (that's a big trunk to you) and I am able to get Hubby's wheelchair in and out by myself.

The exterior is rather the worse for wear now as I have a tendency to bump and scrape it when parking but there is no way I am getting rid of it just yet. Battle scarred it may be but it serves me very well.

I also have a second hand electric mobility scooter that I like to ride when the weather is sunny. Hubby's nursing home is not very far away and I use the scooter when visiting every so often. I like to feel the wind on my face and I get to say g'day to lots of people along the route. I find it both uplifting and energising.

Dear me. It seems that my laptop has given up the ghost👻. I'm gonna wait a while to see if I can get used to using this tablet to save the cost of a new "device." It's tiresome keeping track of this one and that one and the other one.

So...I didn't buy anything. Yet.

It's good to read this update from you!
I'm glad you are doing fine, after that unexpected upset,
and that you are satisfied with your new-old car. ;):)

I'm gonna try to post a pic of the strawflowers, flax lily and tricolor ginger if I haven't already forgotten how.

Good for you! Congratulations!

Had to order some closet end rod supports for the utility closet where I planned to place my new shelving unit (see above). When I got into it I discovered the rod was being held up by only a middle bracket. Both of the rod supports, which were plastic, had pulled loose. The new ones are stainless steel.

Ordered some ink cartridges for my Cannon printer, this time gave an off-brand
company a try.
Received them yesterday and I'm pleased to say that they work like the Cannon ones.
1/3 the cost of the Brand name ones and double the cartridges in the pack.
The machine recognized the chip and that was the important thing.
