What have you bought recently?

I had a hankering for some pork chops. So there ya go. Despite having more than enough food to last a couple weeks, I just had to have some Pork Chops. Just because. They've always been my favorite, but I try to eat healthy these days, and Pork Chops aren't really on the plan. :D
Isn't pork a lot different now from 50 years ago though? It often seems so lean that cooking it properly takes different techniques and the result still doesn't taste like the old days.

I live in pork country so you can still get a pretty good chop, however, not like 50 years ago I'm sure.

Today I was just about to click ‘buy’ on Amazon for some plastic, reusable lids of canning jars. Noticed one negative commenter said he found some brand name ones at a local store. There aren’t as many in the pack, but I did the same as he did and bought from a B&M.

I don’t can, just like to keep using the jars.

Also bought a hair smoothing cream from the salon I go to. The hairdresser had filled a little jar to make sure I liked it before buying. That was really good of her.

What a great idea. I never know if my hair looks smoother when I leave the salon because of the product they use or the skills of my stylist. I usually attribute it to the stylist.

What product is it, if you don't mind my asking?

I feel left out because I haven't spent any money in a couple of days.
get me the smelling salts... no flowers bought in 2 days...

Yesterday I bought a 10TB Seagate external backup disk. I already have an 8TB that is nearly full.

When it comes to backing up my data I still adhere to the way I was taught many years ago when I worked in IT. If it doesn't exist in three places - it doesn't exist. With one of those places being 'Off site'.

I've sized down, losing some weight the last 6 months, and I'm working my way back through closets and drawers. Two pair of linen pants in good shape, rewashed and lightly tumbled to remove fold and crease lines from hanging. But linen, though light, is more trouble than it's worth in guys' pants. It also seems to be tailored and hangs in ways that make me feel like I should be wearing a straw hat, wingtip shoes, and carrying a cane.

I'm not 90 (yet), so these are probably going to be donated. Like maybe to a high school drama department that performs 1920s musicals.

I don't see much men's' fashion advice for budding decrepitude here. We aren't really into that stuff though anyway.

I'm thinking I should just let these go and replace them with light cotton blend pants for Summer. Probably more wrinkle resistant with neater tailoring and fit. I just liked the super-light breathable feel of the linen, so I'll probably have to invest more time shopping than I normally care to.

My problem with higher capacity drives is organization. But you probably store a lot of raw format photos which are pretty bulky.

I have a 2TB drive on a small media server box on my network:

It's smaller than the 2TB USB drive and supports both NAS and streaming, so I use it to hold videos of captured TV shows, old movies, ripped DVDs, and the like. Then I can watch them locally on my PC or TV, giving ready access to viewing even if my Internet provider has extended downtime.

Every so often though things get trashed by the device. Deleting files or folders seems to be the problem. Then I need to move the drive to a PC where I can clean it up. Little Linux-based devices don't seem to implement drive filesystems very accurately.

I have a 4TB drive that's a little thicker, but I haven't even used it since the smaller drive isn't close to full yet. Perhaps I should use it for backing up the smaller drive though.
