Maggiecat has food for the next 90+ days. A box of 40 cans lasts 80 days, and there were seven cans left from the last box.

I found a box of the perfect size to send some books to DS. We usually have plenty of boxes around here but not this time. The box cost me a whopping $.83. Heaven knows how much it'll cost to send via UPS. $15? It would be half the price via USPS but they can't be trusted to get it there any time in the near future.

Not broke yet, but close. My allowance for the next four weeks gets smaller and smaller :( It's a good thing that flower-buying season is over!

Me, win a raffle? In my dreams! Fox Tailoring are having a charity ball next month. No doubt there will another raffle to lose on. It will be worth it though. My housebound lady needs to get out more as she recovers from surgery.

Nope! We didn't go to the garden center. Aren't you proud of me?

This morning, though, I spent $20 on a haircut...goody for my fave haircutter because I had a coupon for a $10 haircut and always pay with a $20 bill so she got a 100% tip.

And I spent $14 to ship books to DS.

My checking account and my walking-around money get thinner and thinner💸💸

food...well.. actually Milk.. 2 fake flowers 3 feet tall... chocolate... grapes... Bananas.. Gluten free sausage rolls..


When I was in London..I went into the bakers shop and asked for a bottle of coke.. he wanted £3.. for a small bottle, so I told him I could get it cheaper in the pub.. and that's what I did, I went to the pub literally next door and got it for £2.75...still far too excessive for 500 mls but you expect it in the pub... However I can buy it in the supermarket for £1..for 2 litres..

@hollydolly Skip Coke! Carbonated drinks are hard on the bones and contribute to osteoporosis. Yeah, I'm preaching to the choir...but nagging about it anyway.

Well I don't drink fizzy drinks every day anyway so I'm not bothered about the risk of osteoporosis because I take calcium and drink a lot of milk.. as well as B vits,


..but the chocolate always has to be dark.. today I bought .. these..

The last warehouse we rented for our business had a colony of feral cats lived nearby. Although DH is allergic to cats, he's fond of them and fed and gave water to this group every morning. Somewhere around 6-10 would be waiting for his truck to pull up. Come Monday mornings, they'd be slightly peeved, communicating in their cat way, "WE were here over the weekend, Where were YOU???"

When bigger cats bullied kittens away from the food, so DH would intervene, scolding and shooing them until the little ones had their fill.

We saw many generations of those cats come and go. Employees at the sewing contractor across the alley gave them lunch, so when we semi-retired and no longer needed the warehouse DH gave them them the remainder of his cat food stash.
 
Rant ahead.

I spent about $40 this morning on groceries and am trying not to be ticked off about it. Every month I give DD a substantial check to cover a guesstimate of what I use in power and water and also to contribute to the cost of groceries. It seems that more and more often when we shop for food, I'm paying for the items that I put in the cart.

My monthly contribution should easily cover at least half of what groceries *should cost for all four of us. Along with that contribution, there's also my Kaiser food card of $150/quarter to help with the cost of healthy food like produce and no-fat/low-fat/low-sodium/no-sodium/no-sugar/no-added-sugar things.

Rant over.

Please reassure me that I'm not being a beeyotch and have a legitimate gripe. >le sigh<

*should: because she buys a lot of prepared food, precut veggies, bottled water (I don't drink bottled water), stops almost daily at the drive-thru to get whatever (when she asks if I want anything, I decline with polite thanks), so what she budgets for "groceries" each week doesn't last the week.
