What have you bought recently?

@Georgiagranny ...as you requested... here's my new leather maxi coat

We Walmarted. I didn't spend any real money. Used my Kaiser healthy food card for milk and eggs. Their eggs were "only" $4.78/dozen.

New flooring in the second bedroom. Also some sliders to put under the legs of furniture. Since there are two types included, I may need to order another package.

Three bananas. They’re really a good deal for the price, $.91. Healthy and filling.
bananas are very cheap here too. I bought 2 , and they cost 26p....

I also have furniture sliders.. I wish I'd put them under every heavy piece of furniture when the O/H was still here to lift them...

So lemme tell y'all about my new discovery. I have Kaiser-Permanente as my Medicare supplement, and they give me a card that pays for $100/quarter of healthy food. Well. It seems that I've also had a benefit that pays for $80/quarter of OTC meds and/or supplies. The food card was sent to me about two or three years ago with an explanation of how it works. There was never a mention of OTC meds, and I discovered completely by happenstance that it was something Kaiser provides, too.

I've hunted and hunted and never did figure out how it works or if it was something they give me. Yesterday I got a snail mail thingie from Kaiser telling me about benefits, and OTC meds is one of them. There was a phone number to call so I did that this morning.

Et voilà! The nice lady gave me the URL, I signed up, and now I won't have to pay a king's ransom for some OTC supplements that I take.

Yay. Save a little here, save a little there, and there's more for flowers in my garden!

I just bought a Mobility standing helper... not because I'm old and doddery but because I can't get up from a kneeling or sitting position on the floor because of the AO in my knees.. without trying to grab a door handle or something to pull me up.. dangerous... ..so I got this non slip mobility helper, which is extendable from 16 inches to 20 inches...

A new stove!! Pretty excited. Exactly a year ago,the heating element went
out on ours-no problem, ordered a new one online and dh put it in.Then it happened again so we ordered another. DH went to put it in and a wire or something was missing-went who knows where. Youngest dd and her hubby were visiting from California and said C`mon,we`re going to Home Depot." We fought it but it was pointless. They bought us a really nice new stove (even has an air fryer!) AND an over the range microwave! Ours conked out about two years ago so we just use a countertop. All the built ins ran 7-800$. Now they are only 2-300.

It will be here Friday-could have had it Thursday but having cataract surgery Thursday so had to wait a day.

I have been using my big turkey roaster though and I gotta tell you,it has been a champ! I made meat loaf, biscuits, beer bread and tonight I baked Guyere` Mac and Cheese in it. Oh,and a French Toast breakfast casserole the other morning. All have come out perfectly-in fact the meat loaf was the tastiest I`ve ever made!

Seem to have lost the cheap pocket watch I had and used maybe the last 4 plus years. Likely another that eventually just popped out of the pocket. So ordered another standard Casio LCD wristwatch on Amazon, this one for $17 that arrived Friday. A step up from their cheapest offering, with an added night illumination function. Seems to function well, so used a pair of diagonal cutters to remove the wrist bands and make it a customize wristwatch now smaller pocket watch. I won't wear a watch on my wrist unless for a useful reason like being out in the field working photography subjects.

Instead goes into my Levi 511 right front coin pocket where it is quietly out of sight, out of mind most of the time, keeping time. After setting the time a couple days ago via the www.dateandtime.com website, the time is still exactly tracking to the second that reflects now in this age how even inexpensive watches have become. And this one's replaceable battery, a common 2016 lasts 7 years.

I bought something! A pair of high waist trousers. They are the same as a light brown pair I brought last summer and have worn a lot, they are quite thick (similar weight to denim) and go with lots of things. Today I saw the very last pair, in black, my size and half price!

I also bought a couple of small, cross body bags, one for me and one as a gift for my friend who has recently had some good health news.

Next job is to sort through my wardrobe and gift, donate or chuck anything I no longer wear. I think I am going to be busy :)

Hope all is well with you and yours @StarSong (y)
Thank you @Trish. We're all ok. These fires are a nightmare for many. We're donating to various local supporting causes.

I'd guess Californians will quickly vote in a temporary (5 years ish) sales tax increase to help fund infrastructure and other repairs, replacements and upgrades.

Good to hear that you are fine. Watching the coverage here, it is terrifying. I cannot imagine how those who have lost their homes must feel.

It's going to be a long, difficult slog for them. Most are middle-class folks. The news obviously trains their spotlights on the wealthy, but the overwhelming majority of those who lost homes and businesses were not rich.
