What have you bought recently?

Today I bought 2 , Big 80 litre deep Storage boxes with lids...

$550 left at Costco and there doesn’t seem to be much to show for it. Since I rarely get there, I guess it’s ok. Not sure why I had to have dark chocolate squares. They were on sale and I was rushing. Bought some other things like that weren’t necessary. Will blame DH since I have to rush once he finds me. He figured out that I try to hide and now he calls me. Phooey.

The horror. They weren’t on sale. $35!! The only reason I picked them up was because of the $9.99. This store has been off kilter lately with their signs or lack thereof. My neighbour mentioned the same thing a couple of weeks ago. My own fault for not standing and watching the prices, though I’m not sure if I could catch them as the cashier works at the speed of light. She was impressive. I’m considering returning them, even if it’s a few months from now. DH hates them.

I spent $26.49 at Aldi on a 3-tier rolling cart for my kitchen. I had to assemble it but happy to report that no humans or pets were harmed in the process. However, words were uttered. Lots of words. Most of them 4-letter words. It's done, though, and exactly what I've been wanting for the past 16 years. The dimensions are perfect for the space. Yippee.

I spent a shocking amount on a medium size suitcase. My smaller suitcase only holds enough for 6 days so I normally do laundry halfway through a trip, but my trip to Costa Rica isn't going places that have laundry facilities. I've somehow accidentally planned a trip where the hotels boast about 'warm water' and 'private bathroom'. I talked to the travel agent yesterday and she explained it is an 'eco' trip and the hotels will be located remotely (one only accessible by boat or air!). Must read tour descriptions more thoroughly next year!

In the last month, I have spent 11 K but it wasn’t on anything fun. A month ago my sons and I find out that my ex-husband has suddenly become ill and is dying so we need to fly to visit him so that he’s not dying alone and that cost 5K. It was incredibly sad and heartbreaking.

No sooner do I get home and a friend‘s husband who works in maintenance, looked up at the windows by the ceiling in my vaulted living room and said you have mold because those windows are leaking. The drywall was bubbling, but you couldn’t see the mold and I had no idea.

Fast-forward a mold remediation company came out and tested and some of my living room will be destroyed on Friday. Between the mold, remediation work, the company that has to test before and after and the reconstruction work it’s about 6K.

OMG Terry... what a horrible time you've had recently.... I bet you're wondering what you did... poor you...

the only saving grace is that you had the money ( I presume).... R.I.P your X.. how caring you were to go to him in his last days so he didn't die alone... 🤗

Did you have to go far ?

What's that old adage? When it rains, it pours.

Yes, my oldest son and I had to go halfway across the country and my youngest son had to come from Vietnam. Luckily, we all made it and were able to be with him for the last six days of his life.

It was beyond sad as his wife has dementia and she had to go to a memory care center, and we had to find a home for their old dog. We were there almost 2 weeks attending to things and when I got home, I felt like I had been run over by a truck.

My kids are really devastated because it all happened so fast. I took another two weeks off of my part time consulting job because I just wasn’t up to working. I start back next week.
