What have you bought recently?

Paid 800. this morning for a roof repair, new flashing, new shingles around the area, having everything sealed including checking all nail heads.

This was done due to a leak after storms and massive rain. I had water dripping thru the bedroom hallway. Just last night, got up to get medicine for a migraine, another puddle in the hall. Problem not actually the roof but the AC. Went ahead with roof repair scheduled for today. Keep in mind, this had been brought to my attention before.

Gasoline. $5.29/gallon (cash price). And that's by far the cheapest around. Costco is $5.45/gal at the moment.

I cringed at the price pump but my car was at 1/4 tank, higher holiday prices are coming this week, and oil just crossed into $100/barrel territory, so I figure it's not going to get cheaper anytime soon. Certainly not in the next week.

honestly you really need to count your blessings this is what they're charging here...

This was uploaded to the neighbourhood app a couple of days ago... this garage is about 20 miles from me....shocking price this is for one litre.....4,5 litres in a UK gallon...£7.43 per Gallon... = to $9.85 USD approx PER GALLON !....... caused by a war were not even part of.......

Now just in 2 days everywhere around here is charging this price.. and one of our major supermarkets announced today that all fuel will now be on ration, because we're desperastely running short...

I just bought a steering wheel lock. Now with the enormous increase in Fuel prices at the pumps, car crime rises.. now criminals find it more diffult to break into a car's petrol tank, they find it easier to just steal the whole car, so steering lock it is for my car now..

Also I've just booked a room at a riverside hotel for a trip week after next

The kids are really struggling right now with all the price increases in every area. If it was just one thing, not such a problem but it is everything.

I placed a big order at Amazon for household and personal care items so they won't have to worry about those for a while. As usual I will continue to buy meat for their freezer when there is a great deal.

I have always shopped this way. Being frugal and getting the best sell prices and bulk pricing has always been beneficial. They are still learning as young adults.

How young are they ?

My daughter is a super shopper, she's careful very much with her money...no-one would guess she's half Scottish..lol... she buys quality goods so they last.. but she shops carefully for food, stores food well and in bulk .. and doesn't pay more than she feels is necessary.. she'll shop around to get a good bargain.. but then she's not just starting out.. she's 50 next week... I can hardly believe that !

they are mid 30's. She has a 13 year old son but they have been very much in our family since he was just 6 months old. They lived with me for about 3 years.

They bought a home about 5 years ago. It has been one thing after another, appliances going out, new heating and AC, property taxes and insurance, utilities, on and on.

I think they did not really grasp the fact all this happens, normal. Except for the economy tanking and all the high costs of everything. The older generations have seen this before and we learned to be prepared. We know how to budget, that there are things you can live without.

Not to mention feeding, clothing and activities for a teenage boy. This is also the time to start teaching him about these things.

By the time my parents were in their mid 30's they had 3 teenage kids ..I was almost 18... and they had one under 10....

@Trila made me do it. I checked out Amazon for nail files and bought a pack of 5 made in Germany. If her nails are going to look nice, mine need to (sorta) also. While there I picked up toenail clippers. And @Ronni I really like the Staub spatula.

I'm guessing that these nice nails are yours @Jules , they look too nice to be mine.

I don't paint my finger nails, and I keep them short.....I'm just too hard on them to have anything fashionable. Once in a while I will paint my toe nails. But since I stopped wearing sandals, the only one who would see them for is me. I'm getting kind of lazy for that. 😁

This is the kind that I ended up buying. I consider this type to be "disposable". I'll use it for a while, it'll wear out, I'll replace it.

This is the kind that I like, with scored metal. I see that it's from Germany. Is this the kind you bought?

Now that I've looked online, I see the I have lots of options for next time!!!

I haven't purchased this yet, and can't believe I'd ever reach a day that I'd even consider such, but I think I'm going to buy a cat stroller and could use some recommendations, if anyone has ever purchased such?

I think I need a double, and one of my kitties is pretty big. I wouldn't need a double every day but I can hardly lift him, much less carry him any longer. They also get very bored and I figured other than just getting them to the car for the vet or such, and not having to carry them far, that I could use it to take them out for a walk once in awhile, even just one or the other.

I've narrowed it down a little bit but haven't taken the dive of choosing one or buying one yet. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has a double, if it is sturdy and which one, etc., where they got it.

Maybe the right thread would be a pet or cat thread. I'm still new enough I don't know of all threads yet. Anyhow, any advice anyone could offer would be appreciated!

I finally bought something besides food. Mulch was on sale so I ordered 250 bags.
Delivery is $79 if you buy one bag or a thousand so I stocked up. Im sure there will be some left for in the fall or next spring.

And I bought a shrub rake. Lawn & Garden 6 Tine Aluminum Shrub Rake Wood Handle GT0134
you did right to stock up... there's going to be a shortage very soon of just about everything. and or, it's going to rise enormously in price

Thats probably true. But I always do this. Delivery used to be $49 now its $79. I could save the fee if I loaded up the minivan.
But since I cant load more than 15 bags at a time that would be at least 16 trips. Thats a lot of wear on me not to mention the minivan.
I used to do that but Ive gotten lazy in my old age.

I forgot I did spend something else. I paid $100 to have my yard mowed and he edged all my flower beds.
This is now one of my small indulgences. I am so spoiled now. :D

well I saved myself £40 this week, because my gardener has moved to the other side of the county, so I mowed the lawns myself...cost me nothing...lol
