Sheesh, I'm only 59 and that happens to me!As we get older many of us lose the ability to do certain things....or even the will...
I can no longer stand on my head.. or do a cartwheel.....but in all seriousness..
I can barely kneel these days.. I have trouble with one knee, but aside from that if I do get down on my knees,or for that matter squat on the floor, it starts to hurt very quickly, and I can't get up again without holding hard onto something nearby... ( I'm only 65 )
Well done!!!I usually fall asleep within a couple minutes, sleep like a corpse for 5 hours, then gotta hit the restroom. After that, I'll be lucky to fall back asleep.
Edit: I got heavy(obese) after my divorce(mid 90s), I gave up the idea of ever running again. At 290 lb.s I had a hard time tying my shoes, getting down on the floor was a huge chore. Fast forward: after several years of intermittant weight loss, finally got down to normal weight, working out at the gym + Yoga + martial arts and now I can run again, can kick a person in the head if I have to, and overall feel much better in my late 60s than I did in my mid 40s.
Hey, I used to ride a unicycle, honest!!Only upper-crust people do such things, and of course it's in one's breeding.![]()

I've just ordered a pair of those, Bill..I'll need them in the house in winter, despite the heating being on..
I'm sure it's the design , treacle.. I have exactly the same problem.. ( bacon packets etc )I've noticed some difficulty in opening packaging. It is the type where there is a corner that says peel here or has the specific corner to peel away the 'plastic' covering. Most times I'm not able to pull the plastic away and I have to cut it. I would like to think it's not my lack of strength but rather the design.![]()
I use pliers for something tough to twist.I finally bought a gizmo that fits over the cap and opens it easily.

It is nice not to fight the problem. I've been advising my DIL to get up and do something when she can't sleep. It's worse to try to make yourself go to sleep and you just can't. I fell asleep early unbeknownst to myselfI've gotten so used to my middle-of-the-night insomnia that it just seems a normal part of the night by now. That's when I get the crossword puzzle done, plus some reading. It's kind of nice not to fight the problem, just incorporate it into my life.
I once went to a lecture by a sleep doctor who said that in the old days, people used to refer to "first sleep" and "second sleep." It was totally normal and expected to wake up in the middle of the night. People used to get work done then. It was probably the industrial age that put a stop to that leisurely pattern of sleep.
The "second sleep" part of the night is when I get most of my dreaming done, and have the most restful (REM) sleep.
