What insignificant things bug you?

When my husband and I are out walking side by side on the sidewalk or paved trails and another couple is approaching doing the same, I always make the effort to move over in front of or behind my husband to walk in a single file to make room on the sidewalk/paved trail. Single file something I think we all learned in grade school.

It amazes me so many couples walking side by side chatting away don't even try to do this and automatically assume we will be the ones to move over.

I don't mind it as much when it is seniors doing this because maybe they are not feeling good and not thinking clearly.

BUT the young people who never attempt to move over to make room Always irritates me as if they never learned any basic common courtesy.
I was walking through Walmart, using my cane, when a young couple walked up toward me and the bouncy young man hit my shoulder with his body and knocked me right down into the shoe rack. I wasn't hurt, thanks to the shoes, and he was super sorry, but they just don't realize we aren't as quick moving out of the way as they think we'll be.

I'm sorry to hear that you were knocked over. Thankfully you didn't suffer any serious injuries. However, my point is that when we are out walking side by side, we always make the attempt to move over to make room, so many other people (young and old) just take it for granted that others will get out of their way. If I can make the effort to move over, and I'm not in the greatest physical condition, so can they make the effort, or at least show an attempt or say thank you.

It is just a sad state of affairs in the world today that so many people are just inconsiderate, rude and selfish.

Oh but then there's all the ones who now think it's okay to be late because they called. You're still sitting in the restaurant alone. But they called.
I believe in the "academic 15 minute rule". I ain't telephoning anyone. If you're not there within 15 minutes, I'm gone. And if you ring me after 15 minutes I won't pick up.

..and not to mention people ( friends ) ? who walk side by side on narrow pavements pushing prams.... and expect you to get out of their way by stepping into the road

I played football when I was young so when I see it coming, I brace myself with a hard body, appropriate momentum, and a lean in their direction so if there is a collision they get the worst of it. I give young people a pass but adults better check their insurance policy before they try to intimidate me. The same when I enter a city bus. If someone thinks they can broad shoulder the sitting arrangment or have their foot "over the line" they'd better do some quick thinking or they'll get a "Whoops, was your foot there?"

A few doors away from my last house, lived 'Robbie the Bobby' the local cop. He had a sticker of his car 'Do it today, tomorrow there may be a law against it'.
Yes I understand one little sticker in the back window, altho' aside from those ridiculous baby on board stickers... I still haven't seen stickers in cars for decades.. around here people take great care of their vehicles.. but I think in the US they have cars that look like this in some places

When my husband doesn’t use correct English. He says ‘I got to go to the store ‘ instead of ‘I have to go to the store ‘ or ‘I’ve got to go to the store. ‘ there are other examples but this is the one he uses the most and it annoys me.
Very sorry, Patty, but you are wrong to pick on your adoring husband for this! :ROFLMAO: Next time he flubs English, I want you to remember what a great guy he is! You'll save yourself heartache!

I try to feel the same way but..................a person who blocks a grocery aisle with their cart does irritate me. I know, I've said that before but it really does bug me.
My husband also gets irritated by this. I don't, partly because I have ADD/ADHD and am sometimes the offender. Mostly it comes from 50+ years of grocery shopping at least a twice a week and am accustomed to shopping rhythms and etiquette: When an unattended cart is in the way, move it a couple of feet, continue on, and don't give it another thought.

Shoppers don't intentionally block aisles. They momentarily succumb to chaotic layouts and purposely distracting displays - all those shiny squirrels increase impulse buys - and forget to shift their cart out of the way.

Grocery shopping requires a lot of short-term memory - and humans can only keep so much in our RAM space. Stay with me...

Sometimes cart location gets lost in: I think I need more apples. Those look good. Are they on sale? Maybe go with Granny Smiths this time instead? Sometimes green apples are a bit too sharp though. Are apples in season right now? When is apple season anyway? Wasn't it just the autumn when I was a kid? It's nice to have all this fruit year-round. Probably global sourcing. Think I'll go over and give some of those a green apples a squeeze. Nothing worse than a soft, mealy apple. Or am I supposed to thump apples? But I really don't know how to thump an apple or how to interpret the result of the thump. I'll just stay with squeezing.

By this time I'm standing in front of the apples, giving them a squeeze. I put some in a bag, happy with my decision to go with Granny Smiths this time, then spot strawberries and repeat the process. Apples and strawberries now in hand, I look around and think, "Oh crap. Where did I leave my cart?"

p.s. This is exactly how my mind works when I'm grocery shopping. Hope it helps.

It bugs me when people make blanket statements like "ALL CEOs or the wealthy are evil" or "EVERYONE who believes in God is brain washed".

In my opinion when someone makes that kind of blanket statements they lose all credibility, even if I support their argument I'll sometimes debate against them.

My point was the same as yours. If he had slowed a step and fallen in behind his girlfriend (single file) rather than feel he had to stay beside her, none of that would have happened.

It really bugs us when some TV presenter who should know better, refers to 'The Orkneys'
That is irritating.
The standard of English used by the BBC has really deteriorated.
The BBC. Once the most trustworthy source of information. Now a rubbish heap of political propaganda. I was certain Brexit would fix it but either I was wrong or it just needs more time to put it right.

People who say 'irregardless'.
Just curious, what about it bugs you? It's in Webster's dictionary and several others that I looked at online. Some list it as non-standard but all list is as a valid word, meaning the same as regardless.
