What is the definition of life?

Are rocks, stones and boulders alive? Does life include anything that emits and exchanges energy? Is zero gravity an undetectable form of life? What is life and what is not or has no detectable signs of life?

If you're talking about biological life, scientists say life must have order, sensitivity or response to stimuli, reproduction, growth and development, regulation, homeostasis, and energy processing. But viruses come along and screw this all up, they can do only a few of these. Plus, there is always the caveat, "life as we know it".
If you are talking about what human life is, that's a never ending topic.

Depends on who you ask. I have a cousin about my age who was adopted by my aunt and uncle when he was 13. He's Native American. His name is Greybear, but we've always called him Ron. He says all natural things are living. Like, a rock is a living thing but a pencil isn't. This cigarette..not living, the fire that just lit it...living ....or maybe that's a blurry line.
