What kind of books/movies/stories do you not like?

@Disgustedman "Any Louis L'Amour book, Tom Clancy and Dick Francis (former steeplechase jockey)"

I have every Dick Francis book in my Kindle library, as well as every "Spenser" book written by Robert B. Parker! Just finished all "Reacher" books by Lee Child.

I've gotten into Cozy Mysteries lately. Nothing graphic. Years ago someone recommended an author who I can't remember. I couldn't finish the book. It was a murder novel but not a mystery. You knew who the killer was and it was very graphic. I guess it was about the chase. But I didn't like it.

I don't like war stuff either. Probably because I was raised by someone mentally ill who lived through war. This is probably my biggest no. Any war.

Not too much into romantic movies. Romance books a total turn off.

Graphic horror, no. Most horror no. Anything to do with really dark spirits or something like that, also no.

I like all kinds of stories/ movies as long as they aren't jam-packed with gratuitous violence, contrived drama, F-bombs and frequent/unrealistic sexual content.

I don't even like to go to the theater anymore. It's not worth it when I can get "the message" crammed down my throat for free just by logging onto my PC or turning on my television. At least then, if I unintentionally get slapped with "the message," I can vomit in my own toilet.
So that I may too avoid the trauma, what exactly is "the message" that you find so reviling?

Horror ! The other night my husband and I made the mistake of watching a movie called ‘Mother’ that turned into something similar to Rosemary’s baby. We had to switch it off as it became too graphic. It was the strangest story ever.

Science Fiction isn’t something I normally like either although there have been many I do.

Action movies that are too violent
Husband loves them though so we have to compromise often.

The Piano isn’t a movie I’d care for either.

I’m not a fan of stupid funny either.

Movies with subtitles

With books I’m not into ones that are far too detailed otherwise I lose the plot.
I can read scary books though like thrillers.

History books that involve wars I don’t like but they are my husbands favourite

Books that have too many characters otherwise I can’t keep track of them
Ditto!
Too many characters.. Yikes.
Subtitles..Drive me crazy
Stupid funny..definite NO.

Oy vey, where do I begin?

Ok, there's quite a lot to it, but I think I can sum the whole thing up in 3 words: Men, Are, and Toxic.

Horror, Zombies, Tear producing, or challenging dramas (mostly Oscar nominees) without a happy ending! Reality shows that pretend to match couples to each other!

Added: I forgot to mention that I dislike any movies with the Marx Brothers or The Three Stooges! I could never see the humor in poking someone in the eye or slapping them!

I don't like to watch overly suspenseful movies (and even if it is a book I'll swipe ahead several pages if it gets too scary). And I find kissing scenes yucky. Strangely I don't like fantasy vampire type movies and shows even though I like those kind of books (the 'young adult' level, not the sex sex sex ones). And I'm rarely interested in watching movie versions of books even if I liked the book. Except that Charles Dickens one they have so many versions of around the holidays, I forget the name, the one with the ghosts of Christmas Past etc.
