I agree about the gherkin building, I've taken many photos of it over the years...this was one I took from 2 roads away, it's so large it looks like I was right under it....

Old Ironsides,aka the USS Constitution. Built in 1797, she's been active ever since. This ship was instrumental in helping the US win the second revolutionary war or the war of 1812. Not everyone gets to board an 18th century frigate and explore her, but I have and will never forget the experience. She is moored in Boston harbor and occasionally sails with the tall ships. Such a beautiful vessel.

I've never visited but I think the Sydney Opera house is just stunning...

You just captured two of my favourites in the one shot. I spent 5 years of secondary school in an historic building little more than a stone's throw of the bridge but the Opera House was not under construction before I finished school. This photo has been taken from another iconic Sydney landmark, the Royal Botanic Gardens.
 
On my trips to London I used to look out for the Cooling towers at Didcot Power Station-but sadly the last of them were demolished on Sunday
